Is this the mixture screw? And what are the basic setting on this? 1,5 turns out?

I’m changing the engine oil on a Johnson 25 V-twin and can’t remove this plastic access cap. Is the engine oil drain plug behind it? Does it simply twist out, or is there a locking mechanism I’m missing?

I have a 2006 Mercury F8 outboard. The previous owner removed the kill switch wiring. The engine starts and runs normally, but the only way to stop it is by removing the spark plug lead. Can anyone tell me which wire is the kill wire on this model?

I noticed that when I connect the white wire to ground, the engine RPM drops but the engine does not stop completely. Why would grounding the white wire cause this behavior?

Just wanted to share my progress with this dark sleeve. Still a long way to go. Only 3 sessions in 1 year and 3 months because i dont want to rush it. I want minimal scars and hypo🤞🏼

I’m having trouble getting my 2006 Johnson 15hp 2-stroke to run properly. It will only run at high speed for å short time and dies when it drops to idle. I’ve cleaned the carburetor, adjusted the mixture screw, and tried the usual things.

However, I noticed that when I try to start the engine, and also while it’s running, I can hear a loud “sparking” or “snapping” sound coming from the ignition coil. I do have spark on both spark plugs, but it definitely shouldn’t sound like that.
I tried new spark plug wires, but it made no difference.

Could this be the cause of the problem?

I replaced the lower water pump housing on my 2002
Mercury F90.
On the old housing, the plate/insert was glued in place from the factory on the lower unit (pic 2) , I forgot and assembled the new part without adding any glue there. Its hold on by bolts so i dont know why the glue is needed.
It doesn’t seem to be a sealing surface or gasket area — the glue only appears to hold this small piece in place.
Does anyone know:
what the purpose of the factory glue is?
whether it’s necessary to reapply it?
and if so, what type of adhesive should be used?

How tight should the steering link arm bolts be on s mercury F90?
