PSA: Limit your framerate!

Hi all.

Just a public service announcement - this is probably obvious to many, but it wasn't to me; a experienced skyrim modder since oldrim

So my FPS was garbage - and not in the "really low" type, but the "wild swings from 60, to 100, to 20" type.

I run a heavily modified setup, with CS, and i use stuff like ParallaxR/VRAMR/BendR/PGPPatcher and many other optimisations (largely unnecessary, as i run a high VRAM GPU). I Run with 2k Resolution, and 4k Shadows.

my FPS was wild because, largely draw call limitations - basically we're talking a fundamental limitation with the game engine and Direct X 11.

I had a eureka moment, though.

I thought "I notice the wild swings the most, but my average FPS is actually reasonably good" So i got my average FPS number (45fps) and force limited my FPS to this using Display Tweaks.

Now i have buttery smooth FPS at 45, no hitching, no wild swings. ACTUALLY SMOOTH AND CONSISTENT FPS.

Just thought i'd mention that here, as this problem was giving me major frustrations for an extremely long time.

Edit-

It's genuinely crazy how many people can misunderstand a simple post. This community is the pits at times, seriously.

Hi all,

I’ve been having a rough time health-wise after contracting C. diff, which is a horrendous bowel infection that’s basically destroyed my ability to work. I’ve had recurring infections where I get treated, start recovering, then it comes back and I end up back in hospital again. Rinse and repeat.

Because of all this, I applied for PIP in November 2025. (Possibly earlier, August maybe?)

After months of hearing absolutely nothing, I finally called them and was told the claim had stalled because I supposedly had an appointee listed — my estranged mother from over 15 years ago when I was a child.

After a lot of back-and-forth explaining that I’m a grown adult fully capable of managing my own affairs, they told me it had been removed and everything was sorted.

Or so I thought.

A couple more months passed with no updates, so I called again. This time they told me the claim had stalled again because they were waiting to hear back from my appointee.

At that point I was seriously losing patience, but again they reassured me it had definitely been fixed this time and wouldn’t cause any further issues.

That was about two months ago now.

I did call again a few weeks back and was told it’s currently with an assessor (I think?) and that I just have to wait for them to contact me.

Honestly, I’ve got very little confidence in the process at this point and I’m worried I’m going to end up waiting an absurd amount of time before anything actually happens - to the point that by the time i actually DO have an in-person assessment, i will be in much better health.

I honestly never expected the process to take this long. At this rate, I could end up mostly recovered before the claim is even decided - It won’t properly reflect how seriously ill and bedridden I actually was for long periods during this whole ordeal. The delays haven’t exactly been my fault either, considering how many times the claim seems to have stalled because of their outdated appointee records.

So I guess what I’m asking is:

  1. Should I be doing anything else at this stage?
  2. Will any award be backdated to when I first applied in November 2025? Is there any limit to that? I’ve already been waiting around 7 months.

Any advice or thoughts would really be appreciated.

If they eventually try to argue I wasn’t entitled to support during the period I applied for, I absolutely would challenge that, because it genuinely doesn’t feel fair given what I’ve been through over these past several months.
