Hair breakage

I am feeling frustrated about hair breakage.

I have had hypothyroidism for about 4 years. My hair loss stopped in the first 6 months while still on a starter dose of levothyroxine.

For just over a year now, I have been seeing a private endocrinologist (I am in the UK) and we've worked to optimize my thyroid levels. I had already optimized my vitamin levels before seeing him and have maintained my levels since.

I feel like I am doing everything right for my hair. My diet is good, I am gentle with wet hair, avoid products with all the don'ts, focus on moisture, take care of my scalp, use a lose hair scrunchie, don't use heat, dyes or bleach....

Two things I don't do are, I haven't tried a bonnet for sleeping as I think it would be hot or too tight. I don't take biotin because it interferes with thyroid tests and I get those done regularly.

I am sure my breakage (and regrowth) is not from my hair scrunchie as I tie at the nape of my neck and the breakage is the top maybe 4 inches.

Any ideas what to do to help?

How to read a label?

I was nearing the end of my usual conditioner. The last few weeks Sainsbury's has been substituting it with the small bottle. So, I popped into the store to find no sign of any products by this brand.

I ended up having to choose something else. I based my choice on the front and walked away with Pantene pro v active nutri plex moisture recharge conditioner. Well, I don't know what it is but my hair wasn't easily brushable while wet and just feels strange... like there is a light coating on it, not more moisture.

Therefore, is there any advice on how to read the ingredients and know what to look for and what to avoid? While I appreciate the effort to suggest brands, they tend to be too expensive for me and I am generally stuck at grocery store prices and selection.

Fledgling

The first time a fledgling starling tried my camera feeder alone. He did learn quickly afterwards. 😁

During March I had a pair of Robins courting then just one taking a lot of mealworms 20+ times per day.

They had babies! I named them Brave and Shy. I can barely breathe at my window without scaring Shy away. I rarely see him.

But..... Brave is my new friend! I have been giving him mealworms and suet pellets from my hand in the tree. And today is the first time he came out of the tree to me.

I am so happy.

I am taking photos to document his changing feathers as well. He is changing quickly already.

I have a patio type area at the back of my garden and a neighborhood cat keeps pooping there. I have made sure to brush away debris and cut back plants at the edge. He is still doing it. I currently have an upturned flower pot over his favorite spot.

Do you have any solutions that aren't buying one of those sound or water repellents that might work to stop him pooping on the patio? He poops in the bush on the other side of the garden too and that is quite smelly but at least that is hidden.

I am considering giving the area a scrub with bio laundry powder as that solved cats peeing at my front door.
