Photojournalistic Photography - Recommendations (Fall 2027)

Looking for recommendations on a photographer/videographer for a small/medium wedding in a small town in the Michoacan, Mexico area (Guadalajara, Morelia, Zamora) for late October/early November 2027. Pending their availability, we would also possibly be interested in a photoshoot here in OKC on our family ranches sometime this year/early next year.

Ideally looking for someone that specializes in photojournalism or possibly a documentary style approach. Fly on the wall, comfortable with minimal-limited posed photo ops. We are thinking local would be best but would be open to being connected with someone who is able to capture the spirit of the venue/guests/traditions in a natural and culturally respectful way. Venue would be private ranch/ranchito/hacienda as well as possibly town plaza/restaurant/hotel activities.

2 day coverage would be essential but also open to 3-5 day coverage to capture welcome party, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, post-wedding activities/festivities etc. Fluent in Spanish would be + but not at all necessary as majority of wedding party is bilingual.

If anyone has any ideas or people to throw our way we'd appreciate it! As of now we are not going through a wedding planner (as much of a headache it's been, we might change our minds on that LOL)

Videography options or capabilities would be great but wouldn't be a dealbreaker, if we're at least able to find a photographer we'd be fine with no video lol.

Mexico Wedding: Vendor Recommendations

(U.S.) Hey everyone, so my fiancé and I are in the early to mid stages of planning our wedding for next Fall in our family's hometown in Michoacan, Mexico. I say early to mid because we have the venue, catering, Mariachi/Banda and hotel blocks squared away. We've decided on aesthetics, color palette, stationary designs, and majority of the general timeline for the ceremony and reception.

For context, the venue is on a private ranch and is being provided by family for the ceremony and reception. Catering is being taken care of by a local restaurant as a favor, same with the local mariachi/banda groups and the hotel owner who are also friends of the family. We are so grateful for this and realize we are lucky to have those vendors willing to foot the bill for us but that has accelerated the planning in a weird way that left us initially feeling like we didn't need to book a wedding planner. It feels like we have half a wedding planned but without having a good idea on who to go to for other major aspects.

My fiancé and I have a solid vision for this wedding we are having a lot of trouble trying to locate or even contact reliable vendors for:

  1. Event rentals (tables, chairs, tents, dance floor, lighting, speakers etc.)
  2. Floral design and arrangements
  3. Photography/Videography

Wedding is in a small town, closest major cities are Guadalajara (2.5 hours) Morelia (1.5 hours) and Zamora (1 hour). Budget for these remaining major vendors would be 15k-20k, # of expected guests is 75-100 and we are planning on DIY'ing things like some dining ware, table centerpieces and various signage so we can make it a bit more personal for us. Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I apologize if my post is better off being someplace else, I just figure I'd start here, thank you in advance (:
