[01/09/26] Team Trivia @OldQueensHeadPub Okayyy, we’re actually making these meetups a regular thing 👀

So many people came to the last meetup and honestly it was so nice seeing everyone actually getting along and meeting new people, so we’ve decided to start doing more regular afterwork meetups!

Our next one is going to be a Team Trivia Night and I feel like this one is going to be so fun 😭so pls DM me so you can join the gc and we can book together. Or you can just show up!

📍 The Old Queens Head
44 Essex Rd, London N1 8LN
📅 Tuesday 1st September 2026
7pm – 9:30pm
💷 £6 per person

And don’t worry if you’re coming alone or don’t have a team. Since we’re doing a group booking, everyone will be put into teams before the night based on a little personality quiz. You’ll do the quiz through the invite and we’ll get everyone to send their results in the group chat.

The whole point is to mix everyone up a bit and actually give people a chance to meet someone new, rather than everyone just sticking with the people they already know.

Alsooo there’s a £100 bar tab for the winning team 👀 so there is actually something to fight for lmao.

The venue has a capacity of around 76 people, and because we’re booking as a group, we need to know numbers fairly early. Please RSVP and pay the £6 by 19th August if you want to come.

We don’t know how many spaces will be left after that, so the earlier you let us know, the better!
Please bring ID and try to get there by 7pm (7:30pm latest).

Nearest stations:
🚇 Angel: 7–9 min walk
🚆 Essex Road: 6–8 min walk
🚇 Highbury & Islington: 15–18 min walk
🚆 Caledonian Road & Barnsbury: 18–20 min walk
🚇 Farringdon: around 25 min

If you want to come, DM me for the Partiful and group chat and we’ll see you there!

Hopefully this is the first of many because I’m actually excited to see what we can turn this into 👏🏿

[11/08/26] Wait… you guys actually want to meet up 😭

Wait… you guys actually want to meet up 😭
Following up from my last post because we’ve actually had a ton of responses 🥹💕
We’ve still got a few spaces left for tomorrow, so if you were thinking about coming but hadn’t messaged yet, there’s still time!

The plan is basically a cute, low-pressure after-work social, grab some food/drinks, have a yap, get to know each other and hopefully leave with some new friends. Nothing super formal or structured, and you don’t need to know anyone beforehand. We’ll have a proper table booked so we can all sit together, chat and actually get to know each other rather than awkwardly standing around wondering who’s who 😭

it’ll be at 6:15 in soho and ofc it’ll be a vibeeee

Depending on the vibe, we can always go somewhere else afterwards too, the main thing is just meeting some new people and having a nice evening.

Please DM/respond by 12:00am midnight to tonight so I can get the final numbers and book the table for tomorrow! xx
If you’ve been debating whether to come, take this as your sign lol. 💕

[11/08/26] I have no friends, Last-minute London meetup tomorrow??? maybe

Okay this is VERY last minute but I thought I’d just put it out there 😭

I’m 22F, work full-time in London and have recently realised I actually need to make some friends outside of work lol. I’ve tried making friends with people at work, but obviously everyone has their own friends and lives outside the office, so I thought I’d give this a go!
Would anyone be up for meeting tomorrow (Tuesday 11th August) around 6:30/7pm after work? I’m thinking something super chill, food, cute drinks, having a yap, maybe wandering around London or doing something spontaneous if we find something fun.

Basically just a cute little after-work social 💅🏽 Nothing too serious or awkward, just a chance to meet some new people and hopefully make some actual friends.

Side note: Jamaican/Nigerian 🇯🇲🇳🇬
I know this is ridiculously short notice and this will probably get 3 upvotes and disappear into the Reddit void 💀 but if you’re free tomorrow evening and fancy joining, DM me! x

I feel constantly overwhelmed at work, and I don’t know if it’s me or my job. I really need advice.

I work in a corporate social media role and I honestly don’t know whether I’m overcomplicating everything in my own head or whether my job just lacks direction.
A bit of context: I have anxiety, struggle with depression, and I have BPD traits, which means I tend to take criticism very personally and assume people dislike me if I ask too many questions or get something wrong. I know those thoughts aren’t always rational, but they’re very difficult to switch off.

I also had a pretty traumatic first graduate job where I was constantly criticised and eventually fired, so now every mistake feels like it’s the beginning of that happening all over again.
The thing I’m struggling with most is that I genuinely don’t know what success looks like in my current role.

My job description is clear about the outcomes, things like posting 2–3 videos a week—but nobody really explains how they want me to achieve those outcomes.

Whenever I come up with proactive ideas, they’re usually rejected without much explanation. I’m told to think creatively, improve our social media, and bring ideas to the table, but when I do, they rarely get past the first conversation. So I don’t actually know what kind of ideas they’re looking for anymore.

At the same time, I don’t really have consistent work. I work five days a week but I’ll have two or three days where hardly anything is happening, but instead of relaxing, I spend those days feeling guilty that I’m not doing enough. I feel like I should be finding stories, researching trends, learning new skills, or somehow transforming the company’s digital presence.

Then suddenly three different people will give me big pieces of work at the same time, all with similar deadlines, and I’m expected to juggle everything. It feels like my workload constantly swings between nothing and everything, and I don’t handle that very well.
Another issue is that there seem to be lots of different people with different expectations. My manager wants one thing, my manager’s manager wants another, and I don’t really know what senior leadership wants because they’re understandably busy and I haven’t had the opportunity to sit down with them and understand their vision.
It almost feels like nobody has a clear strategy for digital, but I’m expected to somehow create one.
I’m also doing responsibilities that weren’t originally part of the role because the person who’s meant to be leading this area isn’t really there. So I’m trying to deliver day-to-day work, be proactive, generate ideas, and fill leadership gaps all at once.
Because I already struggle with anxiety, I get stuck in my own head instead of asking the questions I probably should. I’m worried that if I keep asking for clarification, people will think I’m incompetent, so I often just try to work it out myself.
The result is that I’m constantly overwhelmed.
When I’m overwhelmed, I rush.
When I rush, I make small mistakes.
Those mistakes then convince me I’m failing, which makes me even more anxious, and the cycle just repeats.
I genuinely want to be good at my job. I don’t mind working hard, and I don’t expect all my ideas to be accepted. I just want to understand what’s actually expected of me so I can stop second-guessing everything.
So I guess my questions are:
Is this just what corporate life is like?
How do you work effectively when the expectations feel vague?
How do you balance reactive work with being proactive?
How do you stop overthinking every decision and every mistake?
If you’ve been in a similar position, what actually helped you become more confident and less overwhelmed?
I’m at the point where my brain feels completely overloaded. I’ve watched YouTube videos, researched social media strategy, used AI, and tried to teach myself everything, but I think I’ve just filled my head with too much information. I don’t think I need more productivity tips, I think I need a simpler way of thinking about my job.

I can’t stop making small mistakes at work and I’m scared I’m repeating my last job

I graduated from university and my first corporate job ended really badly. I made mistakes (as most graduates do), but the way they were handled really affected me. My manager would sometimes ignore me all day before confronting me or shut the door to tell me everything I’d done wrong. Eventually I was fired, and it seriously damaged my confidence and mental health.
I’m now four months into a new job in corporate social media, and for the first three months everything was fine. Recently though, I’ve started making small mistakes again, posting the wrong image, missing little details, forgetting to double-check things before they go live.
The frustrating part is that I often know I should check my work, but my brain seems to prioritise getting it done quickly instead. I genuinely don’t know why I do this.
Now every mistake makes me panic that I’m going to get fired again. I know that’s probably my previous experience talking, but I can’t seem to stop thinking that way.
I’m also struggling because I don’t really know what success looks like in my role. Whenever I try to be proactive and suggest ideas, they usually get shut down, but I don’t get much feedback about why or what they actually want from me. It’s left me feeling quite lost.
I’ve watched videos, read articles, and even asked AI for advice, but I think I’ve just overwhelmed myself with information. I need things to feel simpler.
Has anyone else been through this? How did you stop making the same small mistakes, stop fearing every bit of criticism, and develop a healthier mindset towards work? And if your manager isn’t very clear about expectations, how did you figure out what they actually wanted from you?
