SMP vs Clinical hours for gap year

I am an international student with cgpa of 3.45, no MCAT yet. I was recently accepted to an SMP but so many people say contradictory things I have seen people say to do an SMP if your gpa is 3.2-3.5 and some people say do it if it is 3.0 or below. The tuition for the program is extremely expensive so I don't really know if that is worth it or if it is worth it to get a super high mcat score and prolonged clinical hours instead. The program does have extracurriculars and mentorship and other benefits to it too though I should add. I don't know what to really do in this situation.

Case Western MSMP

Hello! I was recently accepted to the Case Western SMP for fall 2026. Currently in the process of making a decision. I was wondering what the program is like overall? What about the community and the mentorship?

I am not from Ohio, so I will need to look through housing options as well. Any insight would be helpful thank you!

Case Western MSMP

Hello! I was recently accepted to the Case Western SMP for fall 2026. I applied to Rutgers for Spring because I missed the fall deadline but currently in the process of making a decision. I was wondering what the program is like overall? Is the linkage decent? What about the community and the mentorship?

I am not from Ohio, so I will need to look through housing options as well. Any insight would be useful.

Rutgers SMP

Hi everyone! I recently submitted my application to Rutgers Spring 2027 semester and got an email saying I need to submit scores but when I click on the portal it says optional. Does anyone know if this is a requirement for admission? I emailed them but no response! I don't plan to take the MCAT until January most likely.

Letter of intent for master's programs

Hi guys, I just had a question about letter of intent when it comes to SMPs. When is it acceptable to send one? Does it have to be sent only when you are waitlisted or if it has been a while since you submitted an application? I submitted my application about six weeks ago and am still waiting to hear back. Would it be appropriate to send a letter of intent now or do I still wait? Timelines to decision process are unclear. Any insight would be helpful thanks!

CARS advice

My CARS score literally fluctuates, on the unscored sample test I scored a 127 and on another third party I scored the same but on other FLs I've been scoring 122-123 and on Blueprint it was 125. Even on UW I will do a passage block and sometimes I will do pretty decent other times I will do extremely poorly and on Section Banks I am doing horrendously. My goal score is around a 128, higher would be even better but does anyone have any tips on how to not fluctuate like that? I think for me personally, I zone out on some passages, I understand some passages very well and I do not understand some at all so would that mean a change in a strategy? I know something definitely needs to change but I just don't know what.

URGENT Advice needed

So I have applied to a few grad schools and my top two choices are BU MAMS (I am still waiting to hear back from them, I submitted end of May/beginning of June), and a public school that I did my undergrad in

I got into the masters program that I did my undergrad in, in a Neuroscience program. However, it is a traditional master's program, not an SMP and no linkage but if I choose this, I will not have to pay tuition all semesters. However, I have to reply to them by the end of next week if I want my tuition covered for at least a few semesters through a TA opportunity.

My cGPA is below average and I am an international student so I'm not sure what to do in this situation. BU remains my top choice but is it worth the risk to wait? Am I better off working this year and gaining clinical hours if BU and other schools I apply to do not work out or would doing a traditional Neuroscience Master's be worth it?

PLEASE let me know if anyone has any insights would truly be appreciated thank you!

BU MAMS Application and Program

Hi everyone! I applied to the BU MAMS program a little while back and was wondering what the timeline looks like for when they release decisions. I was also wondering how helpful the program has been and if anyone has any insights, please let me know :)

If anyone knows anything or if it is appropriate to ask them about a timeline please let me know! I have another grad school offer that I have to reply by a certain date and not sure what to do if I don't hear back from MAMS until then!!

MCAT Content review help

Hi! So I've been stuck at a certain MCAT practice exam score (496-502) for a while, and I know that means I have a lot of content gaps, but I'm not sure what resources to use to address these content gaps. I am thinking of restarting my prep entirely from scratch with content review for 3-4 weeks and practicing simultaneously with uworld. My concern is whether I should use Kaplan or just stick with khan academy or chad's prep. I don't think Khan academy worked well for me because that is what I did so far. Any good content review resources would truly be appreciated because I feel like there is always something I don't know so doing just the "high yield" books are not working for me. But again, I don't know if that is just me approaching the content wrong!

MCAT advice needed

I currently am scheduled to take the exam in almost a week but I really don't know if I feel ready, I crossed 500s recently. I do plan on retaking if I do poorly but I am worried that my poor score will affect my future score so does anyone know how that works? Like say you got in the 490s but then a 515+ on your second attempt, would that still mean that some schools would reject you because you did poorly on one attempt and do they count both? So in that case would voiding a score be a better option?

Score DROPPED from Blueprint to AAMC

I literally don't even know how it was possible to go from a 502 to a 496 on my first FL, though my scale scores essentially stayed the same or improved only the scale score changed. Tips on drastic improvement within a week or so? I have been studying for months now but I just cannot balance content review with practice questions, I've been doing too much content review but I keep forgetting and get overwhelemed but get discouraged with incorrect answers on passages
