Unpopular opinion: School social work is a unique position that, depending on the state, is part of the IEP team. I support the position having a certification (related courses + internship) given its place in the education system especially if the position entails you being a specialist amongst other service providers, and not just a resource/truancy body.

Wanted to get some views on what plantation tours I should do while in the Deep South. Five years ago, libs or those with TDS were the same back then as they are now.

The top comment was making a joke, but it didn't land too well with the libs. Now, if you venture deeper into the plantation tour discussions you'll find several camps: people who recommend them based on the balanced history of the plantation's beauty and its relation to slavery, those who visit due to the plantation's beauty, and those who seethe at the mouth because plantations - when not giving tours - are host to events like concerts and weddings, and anyone who is okay with this is supporting "revisionist history."

People visiting abroad to the US for the World Cup are, apparently, having a grand time (for the most part). Eating barbecue and Taco Bell. Going to baseball games for the first time. Experiencing the country's geographical diversity. But some people can't stand that because America IS BAD.

Upset that commercials on FOX cut into game play during the WC broadcast. Just blame Trump and his administration.

(World Cup) Anti-Americans come out of the wood work when an unfortunate shooting happened near Team England's home base in Kansas City host city. Either way, the shooting is an embarrassment given the spotlight on the US.

The independent clinical license (LCSW) allows social workers to practice independently as mental health care providers. There are multiple steps to obtain the license including supervision hours and sitting for an exam. There's a mentality to eliminate the exam because "minorities can't pass it."

With this logic, the MCAT and other exams related to licensure in the medical field, district and state tests, the bar exam for lawyers etc. should be eliminated because "there is no body of evidence that such exams make a good X or Y." Well, there aren't large swaths of evidence of many modalities that therapists use yet they still use it.

Ironically, since the option of sending in SAT results have not yielded what liberals wanted - a reality where these exams are dismissed and where the quality of the student body meets or exceeds pass cohorts - have not come to fruition multiple institutions such as Harvard (I think) are reinstating the SAT as an admission criteria.

To eliminate the clinical exam because "minorities don't know English that well" is exceptionally myopic because it creates a diluted standard. If their English comprehension is not up to par then they should not be taking the exam; they should concentrate in increasing their English skills first. If a minority cannot afford the exam fee than there should be waivers. Accommodations can be met for those who have disabilities. Also, if the social worker isn't proficient in English then how can they effectively communicate with their clients? Too much empathy makes you dumb.

If anything, this medical social worker should be reported for faulty logic and having a dumb opinion. They're hurting the overall field of social work. if they complain about white social worker passing it at a much higher rate, then I'd like to find information about Asians (SE Asians, Indians) passing rates. I bet the percent will be on par.

Note: the cries of unfairness is not new given libs have done with other standardized tests or exams. Libs would eliminate the driving test (we've seen people being granted driving licenses who can't even read English). Libs have applied the same logic to IDs for voting.

As a social worker: push back at such utter stupidity. I also urge all social workers who have at least half a working brain to call out the social workers who want to eliminate the clinical exam and its process. If you want change then reform it at least; don't eliminate it.

Wow, you showed everyone wrong, bud! (Not really.)

It's not really the food in the US - it's the portion size and your own choice of what you consume, whether that's based on medical needs, religious reasons or fitness goals. Also, there are plenty of successful weight loss stories in the US. You have the choice to eat food in the US that will help you lose and maintain a healthy weight or you can eat fast food and convenient store food. (Or both because balance ya'll.)

I was perusing the credit card sub looking for some insight on what card would best fit my current setup and, sure enough, a comment had to make a "those people" type of comments. Unprovoked, unprompted, and really out of nowhere.

Comment section of the vid is a doozy. The host thanks everyone in his life who made him feel uncomfortable about race because it made him more introspective about white supremacy and his own whiteness.
