Public librarians: how much do you actually space plan/rearrange your library?

I’m curious how other public librarians approach space planning in their branches. Do you regularly rearrange furniture, shelving, displays, seating, etc. based on what seems to be working (or not working)? Or is this something that’s usually handled more by management/facilities?

I’m a librarian at a public library and I’ve been thinking more about how the space is functioning for our patrons. I don’t necessarily feel like I have a natural eye for space planning, but I also feel like part of my responsibility as a librarian is to notice what works, what doesn’t, and how we could make the space more useful and welcoming.

We don’t have a huge budget, so I’m especially interested in low-cost or no-cost changes that have made a noticeable difference in your branches.

Do you have any rules of thumb, resources, or things you’ve learned from trial and error? I’d love to hear how other librarians approach this!

Has anyone successfully shipped hats (newsboy/baker caps) via oversized lettermail?

I've recently started shipping newsboy/baker caps using oversized lettermail instead of a flat rate box. The hats fit through the Canada Post slot gauge (but it's tight), so as far as I can tell they meet the size requirements.

The thing is, every time I bring them in, the staff seem annoyed that I'm sending them untracked instead of paying for a flat rate box. They usually make comments or suggest I should be shipping them as parcels.

Am I missing something? If they fit through the slot and meet the oversized lettermail dimensions, is there any reason they'd get rejected or returned later? Or are the clerks just recommending the parcel option because it's tracked?

I'd love to hear from anyone who's shipped hats this way long-term. Have you had any issues with them being sent back or refused? Is it likely they'll be sent back?

Should I worry about this?

Basically, I just bought a $70 shirt from a seller with no reviews, but she had sold around 5 items. I really wanted the piece, so I decided to take the risk. After I bought it, she messaged me thanking me for the purchase, then asked if she could refund me so I could e-transfer her instead. I told her I wasn’t really comfortable with that, and she said that was totally fine and that she’d still ship it out Thursday (untracked).

She also mentioned not to worry if I see another listing for the same shirt because she apparently has two — one was originally bought for her sister, but it’s not her style. She’s been really nice the whole time, but does this sound scammy to you guys?

The brand is Brandy Melville and it’s new with tags, as show in photos. I also reverse image searched to look for it on Ali Express etc but couldn’t find it at all. No dupes of this product. Also I did pay for it untracked, but the caption said “message me for tracked.”

I started my depop one year ago in May and since then I’ve sold about 140 items which total up to 4K according to my stats. Obviously that doesn’t count taxes, fees, shipping etc.

I didn’t file taxes for 2025 for depop. I just figured I wasn’t making enough anyway. Can someone please explain step by step what I’m supposed to do? Do I wait for depop to email me? Please help I’m so stressed!

I live in Canada too. And I use PayPal for selling.

Thank you!
Zina
