Conversation

Alrighty fellow Mel mains.

I’ve been wanting to say this for a while. I know I’m playing devils advocate on this, and I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of disagreements on this, but am I the only one who is OK with where Mel is at right now? Look, Mid is pretty difficult in some games. And I guess I can admit to something on her could be stronger
(TO AN EXTENT)

My ass will go 0/3 fighting a Fizz/Viktor/Zed/Sylas. However, when I start dying that much I completely ignore the enemy laner and don’t even try to fight at all and get gold. Once she gets her Ludens and Shadow-flame ALONG WITH ROAMING, she can be a serious threat. The damage she does is still VERY strong whether we want to admit it or not. Even me being on the other end, fighting her is STILL frustrating. And even for some of the mele champs I play as well. And GOD FORBID if she’s fed. To me personally, when I’m fed or fighting a fed Mel, the whole idea of her needing a buff is just off the table for me.

Personally, I don’t see a major rework coming her way anytime soon. She’s an arcane character and when she first came out, they legit refused to do any sort of changes until a year later. I guess I can see maybe something removed, Changed or a small addition to her kit, but that’s about it.

Huge disclaimer though, I play her nonstop pretty much and she’s a Hard OTP. My win rate is high and I’ve just been really evaluating the champions I’m fighting. i’m doing my best to play around it. And it absolutely works.

We all have our opinions, and I respect everybody’s response and I’m only just sharing how I feel. I really wanna stir up this conversation because I’m wanting to get some insight on others who actively play her similar to me. But honestly, people saying that she is unplayable is a bit exaggerated. I feel like if we’re bringing that statement up, we need to ALSO touch on the topic of WHEN it’s OK to play her in a specific matchups or not. Because there are some game comps to wear if you lock her in, you’re throwing. Not because you’re bad, but because how her kit is designed.

What are your thoughts?

Assistants Needed

All right, my fellow Mel mains. I need some help. How in the ever flying fuck do you guys deal with a Diana? For me, my strategy is poke her out/hopefully kill her pre 6 and block her q for her dash. However. Once she gets level six, the entirety of the lane is just me avoiding her until I either get a gank or roam completely. At some point in the lane I realized that blocking her q means nothing if she has one dash left for her ult.

I’m probably gonna get a lot of disagreements from you guys out there, but honestly, Fizz is a lot easier to deal with compared to her. And that is really saying something.

In lane question..

Alrighty Mel mains, it’s time for another random question to stir a conversation.

At what point does the lane against Mel become difficult?

For me, I say it’s when she has her ult. After playing nearly 600 games of Mel this season, and facing her a lot in my swift play games, I definitely taught myself how to play around that damn deflector shield. It also helped me realize that she’s basically useless if you constantly sidestep both of her abilities. Which is why I’m able to actually play my artillery mages a bit more comfortably post rework. However, that comfortable feeling immediately fades away when she has her ultimate. An ultimate like that, basically means you need to plan out every single 1v1 with complete precision. I start to realize later that all it takes is a few hits from her Q and E and god forbid you getting rooted can easily result in your death. And on top of that, her ultimate can be remotely detonated. Which means flashing away from her is completely ineffective. As a result, unless you have a barrier, which not all Midlanders take, you are basically fucked. To top it all off, Mel’s, who play her properly never use their ultimate when I have my barrier which makes her absolutely more difficult.

I’m probably gonna get a lot of disagreements on this. Though Mel in the bottom lane is arguably frustrating, I say she’s more frustrating in the mid lane for me. Because at least in the bottom lane both me and my support or ADC will both get hit by her overwhelmed stacks. In the middle lane, it’s literally just ME getting hit. Which makes the situation much more challenging because essentially dodging every ability she has is a must.

But I’m curious to know what you guys’s opinions are about this. Because on the HUGE flipside, a lot of the champions I play she does VERY good against. But I’m sure we’re all well aware, especially after her rework/other nerfs, there are also a good amount of champions who dog walk her ass. I can name at least 10.

What are you guys’s thoughts? I’m genuinely curious to get a perspective of others who don’t play the specific champions I play.

Hello mains,

Despite all the attention, this champ has gotten, I’m curious to know how many devoted players are out there.

In terms of mastery, I think I’m at 913,000! How about you guys??

Rebuttal Reflexes

Hello Mel Mains?

It’s time for a fun question. What is the most difficult ability to reflect when using your W?

Personally, it’s Sonas R (Persoanl Struggle), Fizz R (Because he never throws it from a distance) Hwei’s R (Same reason as Fizz) Irelia’s R (Same reason as fizz)

And lastly, Lillia’s R. That has to be the most difficult ability to block. Every time it happens, I’m usually a fourth of a second off from blocking it. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done it before several times. But I mess up on it more times than I’ve done it.
