Would you recommend arborist as a career?

I have a friend who’s debating a career change. She’s really into gardening and has been taking classes at a local community college. She’s in a very high stress high paying job right now and fantasizes about the change of pace. How realistic is it for someone in their 40s starting at entry level arborist adjacent positions ? I’ve read that you need to have three years experience full-time for ISA certification any initial for steps and suggestions would be welcome. Located on the west coast.

My plum tree months after my landscaper chopped off most blossoms

Only got 10-15 delicious yellow plums this year, because in late March my landscaper pruned this tree. It’s months later, and as I lay in the hammock under the tree , I’m wondering if this is a bad prune, some of the cuts look clean and some look super rough. Tree is over 30 yrs old. I have resumed garden maintenance after this landscaper took care once a month for years. I’ve read landscapers horror stories here on Reddit. Should I not let him back near my trees?

deadline for resignation or credential consequences

In my district / state, if you resign before school year end the state credential board is informed and your credential can be “held.” Has this happened to anyone? What’s it like in your state ?

Rescue a dried out leucospermum / protea, need advice

Hi everyone. I rescued this leucospermum from a friend who planted it in her garden and doesn’t seem to understand how to take care of them. I’ve transplanted it into a pot with fresh well draining palm/ succulent soil amended with perlite and sand. I’ve given it a good watering. I’m wondering about giving it some compost tea or if I should wait till after the transplant. I’ve cut some of the dried leaves off. There is still a little bit of green so it’s possible I can resurrect this. Open to any tips to help this little plant back to health. I know they’re very particular. You can’t do any phosphorus that definitely kills them, but I’m wondering if a bit compost tea or kelp help could help.

Compost from a big box store

I’ve been using store-bought mulch and compost, and then reading about all the terrible things that could be in them. Are the risks overstated? I was reading over the bag and I find the label organic compost and then this warning label contradictory.

Favorite gardening quotes?

Planting a seed today is believing in tomorrow. (Got this from r/gardening

We come to the earth, we return to the earth and in between, we garden.

Open to sky atrium glow up

I was going for a jungly LA vibe, what do you think? Zone 10 . All my cactus are foundlings (see pics at the end) that I rescued and rehabilitate. Yucca was the big splurge as were the big pots. Fern has been planted in the garden.
