Riddle me this, what the hell is the point of origin?

I paid for Origin, and now for whatever reason, all the stupid brave bloat is back, even when it's actively disabled in my settings??? God if only helium had a mobile browser.

Brave won't let me switch to imported search engine for private windows.

Pretty self explanatory, I try to switch from brave search to duck duck go, it works. Qwant? Startpage? Or any other default search engine? just fine, but an imported one like Kagi, for whatever reason, I can not set as my private window search engine. It's there, I can click it, it says it's my new default search engine, but it doesn't change.

While I'm on the topic, I also can't set the new tab search engine to Kagi, even if I wanted too. It says I 'customize available engines' but even when Kagi is my default search it just does not appear on the dropdown menu.
