I think one of the biggest mistakes spiritual communities make is pretending a deeply subjective spiritual text can only have one valid interpretation.
The Course is not a math equation. It is a personal psychological and spiritual experience filtered through every person’s life, wounds, fears, beliefs, culture, relationships, and level of understanding. Two sincere students can practice the lessons honestly and still come away emphasizing very different things.
And honestly, that should not threaten anybody.
The moment people start saying “everyone who really practices arrives at the exact same understanding,” it starts sounding less like openness and more like gatekeeping. It becomes this subtle idea that if you disagree, you must not really understand or must not have practiced correctly.
That dynamic exists in almost every spiritual movement eventually. It’s incredibly common.
The irony is that the Course spends so much time trying to undo rigid judgment and identity structures, yet people can easily turn “being a true ACIM student” into another ego identity. Then suddenly there are insiders, outsiders, people who “get it,” and people who supposedly don’t.
I do think practice matters more than intellectual debate. Absolutely. But practice does not erase individuality or guarantee identical interpretation.
The Course meets people where they are. Different lines hit different people at different stages of life. Some people experience it psychologically. Some mystically. Some symbolically. Some through relationships. Some through forgiveness work. Some through Christianity and some completely outside of it.
That diversity does not weaken the Course. If anything, it points to how deep it actually is.
I have over 100 hours in game and I’m a big fan. Definitely considering another play through with the enhanced version. Do we know if some of the movement and combat jank will be smoothed out? Or, will it just be the same and look much more pretty?
