Why isn’t Horpa spoken about more ?

Ordered the One Happy Island for my wife and recieved it today. It definitely is something different and looks good too!

Would have love to get the larger dial one for me, but sadly that is sold out.

Approved today! Interview Experience + My timeline and the advice that actually helped

Approved! B1/B2 (India) Timeline & Interview Experience (9th June 2026)

First off, a huge thank you to this sub! I spent the last week before the interview reading posts here. Time to pay it forward with our timeline and experience.

📅 The Timeline

  • December 2025: Filled DS-160 and submitted application (Me as primary, wife as dependent).
  • 15th May 2026: OFC Appointment (Biometrics).
  • 9th June 2026: Visa Interview (Approved!).
  • 11th June 2026 (Today): Passport collected from VAC.

🏛️ Arrival & Pre-Interview Process

Our interview slot was at 8:00 AM. We brought our invitation letter and a full folder of supporting documents (though none were ultimately asked for).

  • The Wait: After a brief wait outside, we were queued up and ushered into the consulate in batches.
  • Inside: Passed through security screening, sat in a waiting room, and were then moved to the document check and biometrics verification area.
  • The Line: We were about 12th in queue for the interview windows.

💬 The Interview (Lasted ~2-3 minutes)

The officer directed almost all questions to me, with a couple of specific ones for my wife. We made sure to keep our answers short, precise, and completely aligned with our DS-160.

  1. VO: What is the purpose of your trip?
    • Me: Tourism.
  2. VO: Do you have any family in the US?
    • Me: Yes, my first cousin (my own aunt's daughter).
  3. VO: What business are you into?
    • Me: Legacy family business and my own start-up.
  4. VO: [To Wife] What business are you into and what are your average monthly earnings?
    • Wife: [Answered regarding her freelance work and monthly income].
  5. VO: What is the turnover of your company?
    • Me: Given in INR (XXX,XXX) and I immediately provided the USD conversion as well.
  6. VO: What past places have you travelled to?
    • Me: Mentioned our two most recent international trips. We’ve been to more, but I stuck strictly to what was prominent on the DS-160.
  7. VO: (Repeated for confirmation) So, purpose of travel and past places visited?
    • Me: [Reiterated previous answers calmly].
  8. VO: Do you have family in the US? (Yes, he asked this a second time!)
    • Me: Re-explained exactly what I said the first time to stay consistent, adding clarity: "Yes, my dad's own sister's daughter, who is my first cousin."
  9. VO: Have you had a US Visa before, and where did you travel in the US in 2001?
    • Me: Told him to the best of my memory that I had visited New York and San Francisco.
  10. VO: Please read and answer the two questions printed on the window panel.
  • We both answered No.

📦 Passport Collection (Today)

The visa was issued on the exact same day as the interview (June 9th). I went to the VAC today to collect my passport. My wife will have to go collect hers, as unless the applicant is under 18, the applicants will now have to collect their own passports. The entire process took all of 2 minutes—literally, the lift ride up to the VAC and back down took longer than the actual collection.

💡 My Main Takeaways:

  • Stick to your DS-160: Don't overcomplicate your answers. Know what you wrote and stick to it.
  • Be clear and confident: The VO is looking for clear communication. Speak up and don't hesitate.
  • Do the math: If your financials are in INR, have the USD conversion ready in your head so you don't stumble.
