Spectrum can’t compete with fiber

I’m selling fiber powered coax Internet for Spectrum, and my recent territories have had fiber recently installed (6 months to 1 year ago). Every one of my leads have switched from Spectrum to T-Fiber, Frontier, or AT&T Fiber. They switched two reasons: fiber is genuinely faster, or fiber is cheaper. Then when they tried to leave, that was a hassle and a half since customer retention gave them such a bad experience canceling, now many people damn near hate Spectrum.

Nevertheless, Spectrum’s promotional offers are the same as what the fiber companies offer, or slightly better in price or slightly worse in promotional period length. Spectrum heavily advertises bundles, but other companies do bundles too. So really, what does Spectrum have to offer that’s good enough for people to want to switch?

This is my 5th month in and I haven’t gotten a sale in 8 days. The thing is, I see other reps still closing on the regional group chat (I’m in Minneapolis/Saint Paul area). I will admit, I’m no pro sales person. But I overcome objections properly, knock on 50-80 doors a day, have had over 60 presentations (meaning I presented and compared our prices and benefits with theirs), and 0 sales. Even for an average rep, that should lead to 1-2 sales.

I don’t want to quit if it was a skill issue this whole time, and I really don’t mind the rejection and constant chaos. It satisfies my ADHD. Is anyone else in territories like this, or have experienced something like this? If so, how did you manage to succeed?

I’m not getting sales, and I think it’s because I have Autism

I’ve been doing Door to Door Internet and mobile sales for Spectrum for about 3.5 months. The first 2 months, I got 2 sales. 3rd month I got 6. 4th (this month) I got 1 sale. I’ve knocked over 1,000 doors and the month is almost over.

I have a hunch that the reason I’m not getting sales is because all of the tips and tricks that I learn have actually been working against me, and I think it’s because I have undiagnosed Autism or Asperger’s.

Some of the main advice I’ve heard is:
be more enthusiastic
focus on helping them rather than helping yourself
relax / have a little fun
lead with talking about something other than internet
assume the sale
listen attentively
ask the right questions
make it a conversation
Be expressive and explain things simply
Close confidently

I feel like I’ve tried everything at this point and I’ve hit a brick wall. My supervisor says I’m doing things right, I just need to build “rapport”, which I really don’t understand. I’m not sure what advice works and what doesn’t. It feels like I have to be damn near a pro and give my all at each door to reach the quota of 11 internet sales and 4 mobile sales per month.

I think my issue is I can’t tell whether someone wants to hear me out or slam the door on me. To me, there is genuinely no difference in facial expression, body language, anything. One guy cut me off mid-presentation and said “you’re very persistent. You moved past my no and continued pitching, but I’m not interested.” I had no idea he said no. And some people just suddenly switch to being mad at me or highly distrusting and want me to leave, when initially they were all ears.

Im at a point where I can confidently implement nearly all of the advice I have been told, but the results aren’t showing. I want to figure this out before my base commission ends.
