switch 2 or steam deck

I’ve been debating this for a while and wanted some opinions.

Some people I’ve been helping out promised to buy me a Switch 2 next year, but lately I’ve been wondering if I should ask for a Steam Deck instead.

I still love Nintendo, and I’m honestly really looking forward to a lot of the upcoming Switch 2 games. I already own an original Switch, so staying with Nintendo would make a lot of sense for me. But at the same time, I’ve always been interested in getting into PC gaming, and the Steam Deck seems like a really cool way to finally try that out.

My biggest concern is availability and price. The Steam Deck doesn’t seem easy to find anymore. On sites like Walmart, most listings are from third-party sellers charging over $1,000. I can’t find one at GameStop either, and eBay feels a little risky.

So what would you do? Stick with the Switch 2 since it’ll probably be easier to get and has Nintendo exclusives, or try to hunt down a Steam Deck instead?

Should I keep my Sega Saturn?

Back in the early 2000s, I bought a Sega Saturn at a yard sale for only $1. It didn’t come with any cables or controllers, so I tossed it in my closet and forgot about it for years.

Recently, while cleaning, I found it again. I honestly thought it was probably broken, so I gave it to a friend to test since he already had the hookups and accessories for one. Surprisingly, he told me it works perfectly — no issues reading discs or anything. He also said a working console by itself can go for around $200, which shocked me.

I never owned a Saturn growing up, but I did love Sega because of the Genesis. Now I’m wondering if I should keep it and maybe start collecting games for it.

My biggest concern is that Saturn games seem really hard to find and super expensive, and I don’t really have the money to chase the big collector titles. I’d mostly be buying cheaper games or whatever fits my budget.

What would you do in my situation?

Is there any reason to keep my original Switch?

I’m planning to get a Switch 2 next year, and I’m trying to decide if I should hold onto my original Switch or sell it for some extra money.

For people upgrading, did you regret selling your old Switch, or was it worth it?
