Briar already pointed out the obvious. Not only will she sleep for 100 years, but when she wakes up, she'll be in a world where her loved ones are no longer around, completely alone and knowing nothing about what's happened, only to be awakened by someone she doesn't even know.

But things get even worse. In the same movie, we see that while Sleeping Beauty is asleep, she seems to be accompanied by this terrifying creature. My theories are that either it has to protect her for the entire 100 years to make sure nothing bad happens to her during that time (perhaps because something happened to previous Sleeping Beauties, since they were vulnerable), or it's there to prevent anyone from rescuing her before the 100 years are up. And judging by how aggressive the creature seems to be, considering it didn't hesitate to attack Briar when she tried to save Apple, it looks like it attacks with the intention of killing.

And then there's the Epic Winter movie, where something even worse happens. When Briar sees the spinning wheel, it seems to enchant her into pricking her finger, and it only stops when Crystal intervenes. This makes things even worse because it means that if Sleeping Beauty has second thoughts at the last moment, the spinning wheel will force her to prick her finger against her will. And if nobody stops it, she'll end up sleeping for 100 years.

It's no wonder Briar is having such a hard time. Her fairy tale involves increasingly horrifying things.

I’d add a line for Emily where she shows concern for the dead exorcists. She’s supposed to care about all souls, whether they’re winners or sinners, and seeing her show no reaction to their deaths makes her look bad. Especially because she later goes on to save Alastor, who is worse than any of them.

I mean, just look at how he treats Timmy. No wonder he doesn’t want him treating him.

An intelligent person can contribute a lot to society, but that doesn’t make them separate from it. And like everyone else, they should be held equally accountable under the law, regardless of how intelligent or important they are. If we start reducing people’s sentences because of that, it sets a dangerous precedent.

And yes, I know why he reduced the sentence, but I didn’t like his final comment.

I'd say it's just personal preference, but come on, Dimitrios is genuinely so much more handsome. I mean... just look at him! He's even sexy without trying.

And to avoid the mess from the first time, I’ll clarify that I don’t think this is how redemption works. This is how the characters think. These winners have no idea how redemption actually works and are letting their fear get the better of them, thinking sinners will arrive in Heaven exactly as they were in Hell. It’s a story, not an explanation of how redemption actually works. Characters can have opinions that differ from the author’s, or simply be wrong about how they think things work.

Are they both assholes? Yes, obviously. And they deserve serious consequences for everything they’ve done. But part of the fandom wants to see them suffer in a genuinely concerning way. Not as a joke, but because they actually want the things they say to happen.

I’ve seen comments from people who want Stella to be thrown out onto the streets, starve, and have to prostitute herself to survive because of everything she did to Stolas. And with Lute, it’s not just that they think she should be killed because she’s supposedly incapable of changing; they also want her thrown into Hell with some kind of restriction so the sinners can hurt her, or they want her wings taken away.

The worst part is that it always comes from the same part of the fandom that says the series isn’t about punishing characters, but when it’s a character they dislike, they’re suddenly more than willing to demand extreme punishment and humiliation. And it’s always something horrible, like rape, even though the series is supposedly very clear that rape is one of the worst things that can happen.

But I guess bad women deserve to have the worst things done to them and suffer forever. Who cares that this is supposed to be a series about redemption and that eternal punishment is bad?
