So after the new song dropped I kinda had a revelation. Yes its been discussed to death of how Stolitz is a relationship based on sexual coercian and there's nothing to it besides fetishization and the show pretending it has amazing depth and is consenual.

But even in the gaslit universe the show thinks we live in why does it want them together? Like the show frames Blitzo as an unjustified asshole to Stolas who's needless cruel and all Stolas wants is love even after he ruined his life for him and according to Viv they aren't dating so how am I supposed to read it.

If Blitzo is the one completely at fault and Stolas is a saint why would I want the "best boi" to end up with a guy who makes everything worse for him. Wouldn't if I fully believed what the show was selling, wouldn't I want these characters to break up so they can become better people and best character Stolas can just be himself and go through character development.

Like knowing how predictable Viv is and the fandom even with the love triangle set up next season.... Everyone with a brain knows Viv is too attached to her ideas and literally has ruined her reputation and the show's rep by double downing on this relationship that I know damn well she's not going to have Stolas run off with Vassago. Endgame is still Stolitz despite her own framing indicating these two bring out bad shit for each other. Despite the fact it would actually be the most benefical writing on all fronts because now the rapist and victim aren't with each other and it lines up with the accidental framing of them being incompatible.

As someone whose been writing for a decade now (I started when I was 9 and going on 22.) I have found out why Viv's antagonists are lackluster. It's because none of them have any motives besides Vox.

Please read through this as it's really important!

I am not a good writer myself and I wish I can improve but I feel like the aspects of Viv's villains are lacking. Most of the villains in Hazbin are treated as a Saturday Morning Cartoon akin to that of Word Girl with them only appearing once and not reoccuring.

Most Villains in general have a reason to be evil, and not just for the sake of it, unless you know why the villain is the way they are. Then the no reason part can be revealed in another time. It's important to utalize the Why? Aspect when it comes to character creation.

Adam for instance has no motives for why he does the exterminations! Even if Lucifer sancitioned these mass murders then why would the first man agree to them. No, being a douche is NOT a reason, and being a senseless sadist is not the reason for it.

A lot of critics don't seem to actually sit down and criticize the villains motives more often as it's expected. But after consuming a shit ton of media that has a villain with actual motives (I.E. Disney Films new and old, Pixar films, Kids Cartoons, Roblox Stories, fanfictions and more.) I have realized that most villains in this show is badly written because we don't know what motivates them.

Off the bat we see Adam being a douchebag and express the reason why he kills sinners was because its fun. (Before having a cop out that Lucifer ordered this.) I do believe Adam can be easily saved if the reason was simple, and I had said this in a comment but I will be posting it here.

Adam was a good antagonist.... For the finale. They could've spent the entirety of Hazbin proving to Heaven (and failing where they succeeded) at redemption being a thing. This causes Adam extreme amounts of denial (Whereas that means Cain could be redeemed, and he isn't ready for Abel to see his brother again.) Adam's reasons for killing his kin has to be tied to him in some way.

Most Antagonists goals are from either backstory trauma or due to a sense of misguided beliefs. Adam would've been a good overarching antagonist where he's portrayed as bad, but in a endearing way. The reason why he killed his kin every year was to purge them of their sins as he failed as the founding father of humanity.

He's corrupted by this sense of a god complex that he lost sight of who he once was, and after the final battle of the series finale, he dies not by Nifty, but by his own pride mirroring icarus.

Then there's Vox who was a season two antagonist that felt like they put a shit ton of effort in his character more then they did for Adam, whose death felt like a joke, which fits because his entire character is a joke. Which sucks because I actually found his design appealing.

Vox's motivations were fueled by petty jealousy and fears of being behind (Which could have been expanded on more if we figured out what caused this jealously, in the rewrite I made, I actually explained it was due to a pretty abusive home life.)

Even with these reasons, there's still no reason to make Stella a villain, you can argue she is one because of her being cheated on, but that's still no reason for her to end up so far gone, I'd wager she's a villain because of the cheating and the fact she wasted her life being loyal to Stolas only for this to happen.

But that's all I have, there's really nothing to go off of, as most of the characters don't have any personalities or any backstories, even if you jump through hoops to sit down through hour long videos, it wouldn't matter as Spindlehorse will fill in the holes with more dirt and sand to cover it up.

I personally want to see you guys discuss on how you'd rewrite the antagonists. Let me know!
