23M from India, currently stuck in a difficult career situation and looking for realistic advice.

I’ve been pursuing a top-tier professional accounting course for a few years, but at this point I genuinely don’t think I’m going to clear it no matter how much I try. I’ve struggled to improve consistently and mentally I feel exhausted continuing down this path.

The problem is that low-level accounting jobs in India seem heavily underpaid with limited growth unless you fully clear the qualification, so I’m considering switching careers before I waste more years.

Right now I’m thinking about web development/software development because:

entry barrier seems lower compared to many careers

degree doesn’t seem mandatory if skills are good

learning resources are available online

I have some genuine interest in coding/problem solving

Long-term salary growth and remote opportunities seem much better

My current goal is not dream job. I mainly want to become employable and financially stable within the next 12months.

Realistically, I would want to reach around 60-70k INR/month by next year to prove to my parents that the switch wasn’t a mistake. After securing a decent job i plan to apply in foreign companies which pays and have better work life balance. We also have an small family shop so If I could only land a remote job i maybe able to stop it from closing and doubley income from it.

I want honest advice from people already in tech:

Is web development still a realistic path in 2026 for someone starting from zero?

How difficult is it actually to become employable now?

What timeline is realistic for internships/jobs?

Are there better alternatives I should consider?

Would combining accounting/business knowledge with tech help in any niche?

I’d especially appreciate answers from people who switched careers into tech from non-engineering backgrounds. What is the best thing to do?
