Verbally abusive guys in gaming
I play a city building game, where you get into alliances and work together with others.
I received unsolicited sexual messages from some stranger and I exposed him in alliance chat.
The leader was just laugh reacting.
One person was telling me he normally never acts like that and he is suprised (i think these guys all know each other from another server and im the new person) and another was telling me " its not nice but I promise you he is joking" and the leader just said "noone is leaving the alliance". I checked that guy's stats and he seems to be a spender (whale) too.
Is this a normal occurrence in an alliance or is this just not it? Or maybe I should have expected the serious handling in pm or write to the leaders in private?
I hate being in spaces where people's first reaction to perversion is laughs and minimizing so I already left that alliance but also I am wondering if my expectations are too high from the gaming society. Even if its just a game I feel sick to my stomach thinking I ll have to play with people like this.. Ofc I watched a lot of gaming videos to know there are a lot of teen frat boys who swear and act nasty but I thoguht that was only if you stay in the same room/server as them?
I am rather new to gaming. Need feedback!
