Hello! Last time we asked you all for a short interview about otome games, and this time we want to share an update on our progress! Our otome game is called 'Mark Complete' it's a productivity app that helps you focus and rewards you with an eye-candy virtual companion you can romance.

Hello!

We're two people working on Mark Complete, a productivity app that helps you focus and rewards you with an eye-candy virtual companion you can romance. We're aiming to release the demo this autumn!

Mark Complete's inspiration came from a personal struggle we've always had: actually sitting down and focusing on the task in front of us. With so many distractions around us and everything moving so fast, it's only gotten worse in recent years. Not to mention our personal obsession with charming 2D men and the good love stories that come with them. That's what made us start Mark Complete.🥺

We're just beginning our development journey, and we hope you'll follow along with us through the real chaos of two people trying to make this thing happen!

Thank you for all your support and this community! We hope to create a cozy little space where you can focus on studying or working, mark your tasks complete, and let him complete you.💘

GTA VI Looks Exactly Like What I Wanted 💀💀💀

I have seen some of the leaks by scrolling on Twitter and it legitimately looks like exactly what I wanted it to be: taking the elements of RDR2 and simply implementing them into a game of modern setting. The actual tone of the game is still into question as I feel like GTA V went a lil too far with being over the top and wacky (looking at you Trevor).

And i still may just wait to buy it as that no disc bit turns me away big time (and im still in my own boycott of Sony with their decision to turn away from discs despite being an owner of the digital PS5).

Sovereign Tower has amazing female character designs and is my game of the year

Did you wish there was more of the Dispatch superhero minigame? Did you think "wow it's really fun getting to know them all, try to match them to quests that suit them and level them up accordingly"?

If you did, then you might want to check out Sovereign Tower! Half visual novel (don't let that scare you! I typically don't like VNs) half arthurian management simulator, this game is a joy for the min-maxing, renfaire cosplay lovers.

And if that wasn't enough, the art is also gorgeous? The female characters are varied, nuanced, fun to get to know and look completely like knights. No stupid boob windows, no side skirt slits and a facefull of makeup. I've highlited some of the early game female knights, but there are still a ton more in the game and they are all more wonderful and unhinged than the previous!

There is a time loop mechanic that can get a little tedious if you're trying to get specific endings, but I didn't use it at all my first playthrough.

I honestly can't recommend this game enough. If you think any of this might interest you, give it a try!

Our monster-themed dress-up life sim has a demo out on Steam, and it's currently 100% positive!

Hi I'm Mari, one of the devs at Citreat Studio. We've spent the past year and a half developing the Dance of Theseus demo, and it was finally released last week!

It's a dress-up life sim game in which, by day, you gather materials, draw blueprints, and live in the monster world; and by night, you dress up to compete in monster ballrooms, win over picky judges, and play a strategy minigame to get the best scores. You can also farm, fish, befriend shopkeepers, and romance the ballroom bosses.

I'm a long-time lurker, occasional poster in the sub, and I often see people asking for a dress-up game without gacha or MTX, and it was a part of the inspiration behind us making this game. So, if this looks like your thing, please go try the demo and let me know what you think: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3581260/Dance_of_Theseus/

(Hi sorry mods if you are seeing this - I did reach out through mod mail two weeks ago :)

Has anyone played the "My Boyfriend" pc game and made it run on windows 10?

I was weirdly obsessed with this game as a child but it won't run on my PC. I have the disc version but it was also published on steam a while ago which makes me hope the disc version will also run on modern computers?

Here is my 2D space action game, The Chaser's Voyage, inspired by Star Tours, FTL, and more.

Hello everyone,

My friend and I spent years working on our sci-fi game called The Chaser's Voyage. It's a 2D space action game inspired by Star Tours from Disneyland and taking some gameplay inspirations from FTL: Faster Than Light and other classic space sims, where you have to manage and allocate power across systems in real time while dodging obstacles and battling enemies. The goal of the game is to earn enough money to pay back a space pirate before the 100 day time limit (kind of like the original Pikmin). Each mission contains a variety of randomly generated encounters. So you'll never know if you're flying through a ship graveyard guarded by sentry drones or dodging asteroids with a bounty hunter in close pursuit.

Our game offers two difficulty modes. In Captain Mode, you have one life to complete your voyage, creating a high pressure and rewarding experience if you manage to do it. Our Voyager mode is a lot more casual, with infinite retries and tons of customization options to cater the experience to exactly what you want.

Game game offers a fully voice acted crew that interact with each other and gives you important information during your flights as well as colorful villains hot in pursuit of you, including pirates, bounty hunters, and two warring factions you get tangled up.

Our game is currently available on Steam along with a free demo: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1473130/The_Chasers_Voyage/

If you want to learn a little more about the gameplay, we made this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXMOO6PDJig

I'm not sure if this is a requirement here, but this game was developed by a two person team, including me (F) and my best friend who is trans fem NB and we contracted from all sorts of people to make this game. The game's tone is that mix of serious and lightheartedness you might expect from a game like Kid Icarus Uprising and includes tons of lore that gives you backstory on the characters and the universe as well as unlockables.

We both hope you try our game's demo and like the full release as well. We worked really hard on it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Any good video game essayists who are women?

I'm looking for some good YouTubers who do video essays. Some of my current favorites are TotallyPointlessTV, AnyAustin (Does he count?), SwankyBox, and Summoning Salt. I'd especially love some that do more horror games! Thanks!

Terraria is full of boys. Does anyone know a girl YouTuber?

I just learned about Terraria and I haven’t stopped playing for a couple of months now.

Does anyone know of any lady YouTubers? Emmalution, who typically plays Stardew, did a run and it was the best thing that’s ever happened to me and now I need more.

Look how cute it is!

I can’t wait until we have more controller skins and mayhaps shells, and as expected the faceplate market has really started popping off and I’m sure will only get better, but for now I am in love with my little aesthetic.

So many men will throw away empathy and morality when it’s convenient for them

I don’t know if this is the right sub, but I really need to rant.

I’m a really big Skyrim fan, so time and time again, I have to hear the same shit about how much they miss Jeremy Soule and how Bethesda needs to bring him back, and how it’s just not the same without him. Actively ignoring that he’s been accused of sexual harassment multiple times and scammed his fans out of 200k. It’s genuinely insane how I’ll see people actively defend or ignore his allegations just because they like his music.

If you read about some of the weird shit this guy has said, or take into account that Bethesda, a very close-knit company, would fire him, or the fact that people lying about assault is much rarer than assault itself, any rational human being could see that he is probably a huge piece of shit. I’m just so sick of how little empathy men have for women and how quickly whatever tiny sliver they have disappears at the slightest inconvenience.

Hesitant about Cyberpunk 2077, please help

I've been playing this game for 9 hours, and I don't know if I want to continue. I feel like I should, as this is one of the games that is highly beloved by a lot of people, including my actual real-life friends. More importantly, people are saying this game has an amazing story, and story is the most crucial thing for me when it comes to my gaming preferences

My only problem is that I hate being the hitman and those anarchy-type cities. The weird thing is that my favorite genre in media is dystopia/utopia, but I like it when it's more nuanced, and people are controlled with something like an ideology and not just everyone walking around with a gun. It's not even the fighting itself, I didn't mind fighting for the galaxy in Mass Effect or even being an assasin in Dishonored, but here it just feels like fighting for the sake of fighting. I hate feeling like some mafia/mob person

I might be completely wrong, and if I am, maybe you'll help me see it in a completely different light.

Girls, what's a game or genre that "gamers" can't believe you play - just because you're a girl?

(when I say "gamers", what I mean is GaMeRs with a big capital G of course)

For me it's ARPGs, no contest, and the amount of disbelief I get is beyond funny

Look, I know that gaming is still considered a masculine hobby albeit increasingly less and less so. But the loot lottery genre has a rather specific reputation - that a certain type of person treats as Serious Business For Serious Men. The idea that a woman might really enjoy mowing down demons and hoarding shiny gear apparently leads to them short circuiting.

I had the whole spectrum of reactions at this point but the classic was my bf's friend who just assumed my boyfriend must play and I just watch... 🤢

When I mentioned I've got 3 thousand hours in Path of Exile 2 and almost a thousand in Last Epoch and can actually talk crafting and builds (most of them stolen but whatever), you could literally see a little error message flash across their face. Like it's so out of the ordinary.

I guess it's because whole genre gets treated as such a deeply male space, and the mental image of a girl gleefuly min maxing her skelly raising witch build… it’s like it breaks something in some people. I didn’t notice this when it comes to RPGs like Witcher 3 and more story focused games but a girl being into ARPGs is just sooooo weird to some people, that I literally can’t believe it.

What's yours, ladies, the game (or genre) that makes people lose their shit the second you say it’s one of your favorites?

Starting my first Persona game. Should I be using a guide?

I'm having surgery soon and will be in bed for the next few weeks. I bought 5 Royal on Switch a few months ago and I figured now is the best time to finally jump in. Persona always scared me because the idea of balancing dungeons, social links, and skills always stressed me out, as someone with anxiety, OCD, and ADHD. I've seen a few guides that are basically just spreadsheets with bullets telling you where to go and what to do there, so they seem pretty non-spoilery.

I don't care about 100%ing the game. I just want to experience the whole story and I dont want to get 90 hours in and discovery I fucked up my run because I didn't know what I was doing. For my first Persona game, do you recommend using a guide, or would that likely kill the experience?

Series-like games that captivate you entirely like Detroit: Become Human or The Pillars Of The Eart?

Looking to detach my brain completely. that means I need something that engages me as much as possible, so:

- a cheap trill, like, the lower the better

- a series-like game

- 2D/3D (no minimal pixel art)

- possibly with all lines dubbed

- story-driven

- your choices make the story

- engaging gameplay that gets you focus comple on the game

- not a static game (like VNs etc.)

- no open world exploration (especially endless ones)

- no GDR battles and stuff

- no first person POV (at least if the game’s circumstances are not stimulating enough)

- full of cutscenes

- genres I love: dystopian, historical, realistic

- genres I don’t dig: horror, fantasy

(already played game that fit the description: Deponia)

(games that fit the description but whose premise didn’t intrigue me: Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, Life is Strange (I actually played it but the setting are too cliché to capture me), The Walking Dead Series (the art style doesn’t capture me at all :())

(games that could fit the description but I haven’t tried yet: Assassin’s Creed series, Dispatch, Stray Gods)

Thank you in advance my ladies🥹💖

Trails in the Sky 1st chapter - not sure if this is for me

I rarely played JRPGs but I'm trying to explore more of these since I enjoyed some of the recent titles like Monster Hunter Stories 3 and Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma.

I've got so many recommendations for Trails in the Sky and since the demo is available on Steam, I am giving it a try. The thing is, I can't vibe with the protagonist. From what I read, she is universally loved but I just.... can't really stand her. I heard that she has great character growth but that happens towards the end of Chapter 1... I'm not sure whether I should just push on or just drop the game.

I'm not really used to turn based combat, so playing on easy difficult and combat hasn't been too engaging either. Story seem to be very slow burn... and not sure if demo would be good representation of what's to come or it will end before the game gets into "good stuff".

What do you ladies think? Is it worthwhile investing more time into demo / full game?

I feel like I can play any genre or game if it has fun characters and a storyline

I've noticed my gaming tastes are kind of weird. I used to think gameplay was all that matters for me but I kept catching myself playing games for reasons completely unrelated to the gameplay. What I actually care about above all else is the characters and the “vibe” the game has, if I get a cool feeling playing something It doesn’t really matter if the gameplay isn’t perfect.

I'll happily push through a genre I'm bad at or don't even really enjoy if the aesthetics are on point and the characters are loveable. I've suffered through games that I am really bad at because I just couldn’t get enough of the visuals and vibe.

A good example of this was Cuphead, it was so difficult for me (and my OCD prevented me from lowering the difficulty to simple mode) but I beat the game eventually, because I just couldn’t get enough of the amazing hand drawn visuals. I think I will have the same love-hate relationship with Croak when it comes out, I am so bad at platforming even the demo is not easy for me. But it has that same awesome hand drawn style and the main character is an adorable fat frog. I will make myself finish no matter what it takes because I have to see all the art.

Sometimes it's just ridiculous, I see something on tiktok, like a short clip and fall in love with a cute character and immediately decide “I’m playing this”. Which is especially annoying when it's some game that isn’t even close to being out yet. Right now its Water Me & You I’m kind of impatiently waiting for, I love the little water droplet character (it reminds me of something I have tattooed on my arm). I’ve already convinced my boyfriend to play with with me so now all that’s missing is for the game to actually come out. And we will play the whole thing no matter how much I struggle with  the platforming because I have to see the story through. Cuz I have to know what happens with the little droplet.

I just read my post and it makes me sound so shallow, I swear I’m not haha. I just have a huge sweet spot for certain aesthetics and cute characters, I can’t help it. Please don’t judge me.
