TIL the Victorians called the North of England the "North Country."

I've been reading some Victorian literature lately and they always refer to the north of England as the North Country, in the same way the South West is called the West Country. Somewhere along the way the "country" part was clearly dropped for some reason and now it's just called the North. But I quite like North Country. What do you all think?

What actors or actresses do you look at and go "they're Northern" just by looking at their faces?

For me it's the Chuckle Brothers. Even if I'd never heard them speak I would guess they were Northern.

Is Chapel-en-le-frith a place that's worth visiting, or more a place that's good to live but not visit?

I've never been and I can get there on the train in about 1 hour so I was wondering if it's worth visiting.

Cool map I found which shows the Peak District region (historically called Peakland or the Peak), of which the National Park covered most of when it was created in 1951 (defined by the yellow lines on the map). But there are large areas of the Peak District which are not in the National Park.

Does anyone know the name of this remote valley west of Howden Reservoir and north of Alport Dale? Has anyone walked in that area?

Self Destruct is ruining my life 😖

Because I can't stop listening to it non-stop on repeat. I am obsessed with it and addicted to listening to it 24/7 and can't sleep because it's in my head lol. I have a borderline religious experience on every listen. I also had the shocking realisation that it's now my favourite Evanescence song and I've been listening to them since I was 10 (22 years ago). What song from Sanctuary is currently "ruining your life?" Lol
