Want to know early or no?

Question for the nanny employers!

I am currently a nanny to twins who are on the younger side and just at a very demanding age. I recently found out I am pregnant and currently going through/starting having crazy tiredness and such symptoms a first trimester brings. I have been completing all my tasks and this has not effected the kids. However, everyday I start to get more overwhelmed with keeping up and acting normal. As a nanny employer who has a great relationship with the nanny, would you prefer to possibly know a little earlier just to understand why the nanny may not be as much of herself on occasion (not saying they notice this but just example) and possibly give your nanny some grace over these weeks or would you just be fine with waiting to find out at around 12 weeks like everyone else. I know this is kinda silly and may not even make much sense lol, but as a nanny I put so much pressure on myself to keep up and check off the list (which I continue to do) I just have been doing it all with a lot going on that’s been so hush hush. Just curious an employers perspective !

Stuck Inside

I’ve been with my family for 1.5 years+ and I am not allowed to take the kids out in the car in more of a not an option way. I’m not given a car seat for one of the children so it’s not even an option. While I understand this is something that could be scary for the family and may be something they are not interested in (like buying another car seat which I understand), it has truly began to take a toll on me. Everyday is so similar (even if we do extra things within the house) but we are limited to the same park, same walking path, etc after almost 2 years, I dread work. I’m not given $$ to purchase anything such as activities and such to do and I dont want to be putting out money for my job when I need it for personal reasons. Not sure if there is any advice for these given situations. Just looking for advice.

Nanny Jobs w/ your child

Hi everyone!

My husband and I want to begin our family soon and just with the cost of living, I am planning to atleast need to be part time after a maternity leave period just to bring in some extra income! Curious how mom nanny’s have done this? What type of position do you think worked best for nanny family as well as your own child if they were with you during work? When I think of a 3 month old baby, I just think of all the naps and feeding so find it hard to imagine what position would work best for that to have baby with me. Obviously this is not ideal, but truly just thinking super far out about it all and trying to be as prepared as I can be about all possibilities if I cannot be full stay at home just yet! Thank you!!

Growing out of nannying?

Hi! This is truly something I have felt kinda alone on and almost think is crazy I’ve been feeling this way so just posting with the intent of possibly someone has felt the same way! I’ve even nannying for a while (started when I was a teen) along with working at schools/teaching. I’m now married and in my 20s! I’ve began struggling with the idea of nannying simply in a way I am almost grieving raising my own future kids while I raise someone else’s? My husband and I are loosely trying/will truly try for kids soon but get this weird feeling at work when I get so burnt out from NK and the demand of the job, I get so sad as I wish my energy was going into my own kids. This is nothing against any NF at all! It’s simple just a weird feeling I’ve been getting and just wasn’t sure if anyone has ever felt the same. It doesn’t effect my productivity or effort or my job, it simply has just made the burnout feel more intense. It may sound weird to some (as it does to me in a way). I know nothing different than teaching or nannying, just overall feel like entering a new stage of life, it has effected me mentally with my job and the burnout has just felt more intense and never ending at times due to wishing I could put effort into my own future family. Again, sounds silly and truly may just be a reflection on how I am truly just ready for kids, but it’s been on my mind so much thought I would make a post!

Contract Help

Curious what is appropriate to include in a contract. I’ve been reaching burnout and days of frustration at times regarding what should be normal or not.

Work: 42.5-44 hour weeks
Pay: ~60k per year

Important notes:
- I do NOT get paid OT
- When parents are off, I dont get to leave early.
- NM home a lot/takes off and doesn’t tell me/feels secretive so I don’t ask off?

I do not currently have a contract with my nanny family and curious if some things would be appropriate to add.

Paid holidays - for some holidays such as MLK day when both parents are off and I am still working, is it appropriate to ask for time & 1/2 for those days? I do not receive time 1/2 on regular weeks that always surpass 40 hours.

Family vacation - when family takes vacation should I be paid normal and anything they may need that week is extra service/pay? Such as they are away and I am dog sitting. I shouldn’t have to do sit to be paid in my opinion.
