I recently got out of a 6-year relationship, and my ex wants us to stay connected and act normal with each other. But honestly, I don’t think I can heal or move on if we keep talking like nothing changed.

The problem is, I don’t want to hurt his feelings or come across as cold when I tell him I need distance and no contact for a while. I still care about him, but staying connected feels emotionally confusing for me.

How do I politely but firmly tell him that I don’t want to stay in touch right now without making him feel bad?
