RGV Spanglish

I assume people in the RGV keep using "Spanish" words that aren't even real because they think they're actual Spanish, but we should do better, and teach our kids better.

If you think of more, please add them.

Here's some examples I hear in the RGV all the time:

Manager - "manejante" correct: "gerente"

Insurance - "aseguranza" correct: "seguro"

Principal - "principal" correct: "director/directora"

Welder - "weldear" correct: "soldar"

Carpet - "carpeta" correct: "alfombra"

Troca - "(pickup) truck" correct: "camioneta"

Troque - "(large) truck" correct: "camión"

Wrecker/tow truck - "reca" correct: "grúa"

Bucket lid upcycled into extension cord wrap.

I know cord wraps are about $7, but I was curious about proof of concept.

Cut lid in halves, then cut notches along the sides, drilled/cut an oval opening for handle that doubles as plug pass-through.

It lays flat, and stands upright. Only used one half, for now.

Before vs After - upgraded the third brake light on our 2011 Ford Escape XLT. The factory one had four spots for bulbs, but some tabs were broken, and one was burnt, so replacing all individual bulbs was impossible.

Replaced it with a single LED strip unit with a dark casing.

Very satisfied with how much better the new one looks.
