Met the coolest Cameroonians in France and now considering December in Douala

On my recent trip dans le sud de la France to see a high school friend, I met the most wholesome and beautiful group of men from Cameroon 😊✨3 days there and I was convinced by their vibes and how friendly they were que je devrais considéré une visite à Douala🥳

Is Detty December a thing there? Which neighborhoods would you recommend I get accommodation?

I’m from Rwanda(30F) and would be traveling solo or potentially une amie. So invite me(us) to your end of year plans😊🥳

Got my TCF results, not sure if this is good or bad?

I took the TCF exam on July 10th on a whim cause a friend thought I stood a chance at getting the Canadian PR since Canada is a place I’m considering moving to. With these results my CRS score gets to 426. Are these results good though? Cause I am not familiar with the grading.

Should I consider doing the IELTS as well?

Used Claude ai to edit my CV and got the interview

I saw a role that is way above my experience but definitely something I can do given my current job and the fact that I am a go getter who can achieve anything she puts her mind to😌.

I didn’t read the CV, simply applied and forgot about it and a week later received an email inviting me to a screening interview with the Project Director and Project assistant. I am panicking because my CV clearly embellished a few things but on the other side i have like 45% of the requirements😬

How do I convince the Project director and the rest of the panel that I will be a good fit as a Deputy Project director? The role isn’t technical focused, just your regular program management with a focus on refugees and young women plus a bit of “leadership” and I am already a Program manager although I have no experience managing a team but I have been managing a program funded by the same organization as them.

Any tips or good wishes will go a long way as I start preparing for this interview. Best case scenario they can at least retain me for another role on their project.

Traveling to France and Amsterdam End of July

Hello✨30F I have booked my ticket from East Africa to Paris (July 21st-August4th)

This will be my first time and I’m lowkey overwhelmed on the itinerary front given my limited budget and that I will be on my own half of the trip. Self doubt kicking in (Will I really enjoy big Paris alone? Can I have fun in Amsterdam solo with no companion to do psychedelics with?etc…)

So now I turn to y’all for help😊

21st-24th July: I will be in Paris and need recommendations on where to stay ($100 or less/night) and anything you recommend to do😊I’m easy going and speak french.

24th-27th July: Evening train to Amsterdam(3hrs). Please suggest any hotels(The social hub looks good but welcome any suggestions on the affordable side)

The comments on Booking.com and airbnb have been overwhelming and I’ve realized this sub to be way more informative.

After those dates I return to France to meet a friend in the south and later another one in Lyon(Puy en velay). However if I’m comfortable Solo in Paris and Amsterdam I might skip visiting my friend and venture to Portugal 🤭 Yes I am a Sagittarius so can be quite adventurous when the fear subsides 😄

P.S:I’ve traveled solo before but its been to London where I turned out to know quite a number of people😄

Considering relocating to Nairobi from Kigali

So I currently work in Kigali with 8years experience and make $3000 net/month paid in USD but my job hasn’t been fulfilling lately. If anything I feel more and more anxious at the thought of going to the office, I don’t understand why I have to be in person from 9-5pm when most of my work is done online and meetings are also mostly on Zoom.

Additionally, I miss the hustle mentality in Nairobi which seem to lack amongst my people lol and I think the business opportunities in Kenya are massive.

Anyways as a USIU alumn I’ve loved Nairobi and think I could thrive there but I am not sure how easy it will be to get a flexible work in NGO’s, Education sector as a program manager or something related. Would even welcome foreign remote jobs as long as I get to live in Nairobi.

I guess I’m only sharing it here to hear your thoughts on what you’d do/recommend.

Asante
