Another, harder-to-detect form of AI slop
I'm a hobbyist photographer. I recently came across an image on a photography subreddit that, to me at least, clearly seemed AI edited if not outright generated.
Some quotes from the poster after I pointed this out:
>Haters will hate. Why can’t this just be the outcome of decent Lightroom technique?
>You’re clearly feeling inadequate because you just don’t see how it’s possible to edit decently.
Doubting myself, I posted to r/isitAI. Almost everyone thought it was real and downvoted me to oblivion. To be fair, I was completely wrong about the compositional/physical "tells" in the image. The overall lighting and image quality still reeked of AI.
Finally, I managed get a hold of part of the unedited image from OP, who probably thought it was exonerating. Not the whole image (it was probably too damning), but a small section.
Lo and behold: some pretty damning signs of AI tampering. No human editor would make these bizarre changes.
Fun times. Love the gaslighting, lies, and insults from people who can't be bothered to put effort into their craft of choice.
