What is one thing that would make you go back to highschool?

Swimming in the pond.

My school did not have a swimming pool as you can guess. But on Friday evening we'd clean up the pond thoroughly, and leave it to fill up overnight. Come on Saturday and the clear and about a meter deep of water would make me pray for the sun to rise 😂

What made it even more enjoyable is it was kinda illegal but since on Saturdays no teachers were available, sometimes the teacher on duty would come chasing us but to no success. That's the only thing I would go back to high school for. Unfortunately 🫴

What was your first smartphone discovery?

My first screenshot I ever took was by accident 😂

The year was 2013 when I had my first smartphone which was a Samsung pocket which I also got by accident. This phone had one home button. I don't know maybe I sat on it and pressed the buttons but later on when I was going through my gallery, I noticed a screenshot. I was surprised and thought this was an image that came with the phone but it had my current wallpaper. I didn't rest until I knew how to do it and what exactly it was.

So what was your first smartphone discovery?

What do CBC top-performing students even get rewarded with nowadays?

I was just randomly remembering my primary school days back in the early 2000s, and it hit me how different school rewards used to be 😂

Back then, if you performed well in class, especially during closing day, you’d go home carrying the most random but exciting things mostly for your parents. I remember students getting glass plates, cups, spoons, utensils, tennis balls, tiny toys… basically household items 😅

And weirdly enough, I don’t even remember books or pencils being the main rewards.

Later in highschool that's when there was trips, but not any kind of important trips. I remember one time we was taken to a hotel nearby and we enjoyed a meal, but that was it. There was a swimming pool which I recall asking the teacher for permission to swim and it was rejected immediately. I would have enjoyed being taken to some historical places in Kenya, museum, or some kind of educational meetups.

Nowadays with CBC, I’m curious what pupils actually get for performing well. Is it still physical gifts? Educational stuff? Trips? Certificates? Or did schools completely stop doing those kinds of rewards?

Would be interesting hearing from parents, teachers, or even current students.

Why are men not approaching women nowadays?

Today I saw something that honestly made me laugh a little and also think.

A woman was walking her dog and a guy was coming from the opposite direction. As they passed each other, the dude got super excited, smiled, greeted the dog warmly, even talked to it for a second… and completely ignored the woman 😂

Not even a “hi” or eye contact. Just full attention to the dog.

A few years ago I feel like most guys would’ve at least tried to start a conversation with the woman herself. Now it feels like some men are more comfortable interacting with the pet than risking talking to the owner.

So what changed?

Are men less interested in approaching women now, more cautious, more anxious, tired of rejection, or is this just normal now?
