Trash Sundays, or don't post streamers and liberals

Due to the number of participants that have pointed out concerns related to the excessive amount of Hasan-posting and outrage-farming, we have implemented a new trash Sunday system. From now on, posts about Hasan, streamers, and other such public figures, will be limited to Sundays only.

Even on Sundays we will be more stringent on what makes good content. Make the argument the focus, not the streamer/presenter. "Hasan makes the liberals angry" will still be removed, but "socialized healthcare makes liberals angry" (presented by Hasan) will be allowed. Similarly, posting generic outrage about Kamala Harris for example, will always be prohibited as she is irrelevant to leftism.

We hope these changes will improve the experience of engaging here, and as always, welcome feedback and comments

Drug companies choosing not to sell life-saving and life-extending medicines in Canada

Yet another case of private companies choosing profit over literally allowing people to live. A public and nonprofit pharmaceutical option should be made available to everyone.

A new flair system

Greetings comrades!

After a few incidents where redditors have assumed we are a DSA/US centric subreddit, the mod team has decided to do an overhaul of the flairing system to better reflect the international nature of the sub. The current flairing system, including the Democratic Party of the United States logo to mean "progressive" and including only the Democratic Party of the US, DSA and CPUSA as party flairs and not other parties internationally, is a legacy holdover from old management.

In doing so, after discussion of various options, we decided on removing all party flairs and instead, pivoting more strongly towards ideologies.

Furthermore, we are also thinking of adding geographical indicators into the flairing system and we will welcome ideas on how to flag that you are not from the US, as that has been a source of frustration for them. We lean towards options other than adding flairs for different national political parties, as vetting by the mod team is required for each, and it may lean western, but if you think you have a convincing argument, feel free to give it. Otherwise, we have no preferences at this moment.

As a first step, the removal of the offending flairs has been completed. Old users with these flairs have not been affected, yet. We ask all users that currently use the CPUSA, DSA, or Democratic Party logos in their flairs to switch over within the week. We welcome feedback on this direction, as well as suggestions for which ideologies you wish for us to add flairs for, critiques of other flairs, and icons/emojis you wish for us to add into the flairing system.

POV: You're a demsoc during Mai 68

For some people here that think being demsoc and having good policies automatically makes you win. 2/3 of the American workforce would not go on a solidarity strike for students and 20% of Americans would not support a revolution. In France they did and they still elected who was essentially a Republican-lite instead of demsocs. Being DSA is not an instant win button against Republicans.

Every single victory will be a fight. It's not as simple as "overcoming corporate dems" and then suddenly the Republicans are easy prey. We shall fight on, however.

The case for PR as a campaign push

It's clear that Proportional Representation shouldn't just be something we do once we get in government, but a policy that we should proactively advocate for and come to an agreement with the OLP on. The ONDP and OLP basically already coordinate on everything in the legislature anyways at the moment. We should get ahead and seize initiative

How are they already suggesting the left is a threat and to pivot to the right? It's been a day?

It hasn't even been 24 hours and the BBC is already suggesting a pivot to the right.
