Coast Guard Spouses as Teachers

How difficult is job hunting/career progression for coast guard spouses who are K-12 teachers/administrators?

I know larger DoD bases will often have schools but with coast guard not having those larger bases, how are the opportunities?

Thanks all, currently having some significant life planning discussions with my SO.

Same Firework Tinkerbells at WDW since 2014

Our tour guide on Keys to the Kingdom this morning said that there have only been the same four of the Tinkerbells that ride on the firework ziplines (including one of he friends) since 2014. Thought that was a cool fact!

Updated Operations Ashore Junior Officer Career Guide

Has a newer version of the Operations Ashore Junior Officer Career Guide been published since the June 2015 edition by C. D. Michael? If so, could someone share it?

I’m a CSPI applicant and looking to go into the interview with as much background knowledge as possible.

I turned down a full-ride to Harvard to attend state school, AMA

I graduated high school in 2025 and am a current college student in the United States.

I was accepted, and was awarded highly generous financial aid packages to several top universities including Harvard but decided to go the public school route instead.

Ask me anything! Happy to answer any questions within reason.

Updated CSPI Guidance

The CSPI/USCG website as well as the Officer Programs Eligibility Requirements website has removed the MSI attendance requirement from that page, does this mean new guidance has been received regarding application process and requirements?

How many years should you serve as enlisted before switching over to officer so that you don’t have to worry about not being promoted/reaching 20 years?

Title. Trying to do some life planning and wanted to hear some perspectives on this. Would much rather just focus on serving and leading than playing the political game.

Thanks all.

Can I start the OTS process at the beginning of junior year?

I understand that in order to be selected for OTS, you're required to be within 12 months of graduation, i.e. a senior. However, I've also read that there is a significant amount of work that needs to be completed prior to even submitting a package for selection.

Because of this, is it possible to begin these pre-requsities during my junior year in order to allign what is usually a 1-2 year OTS application process with my graduation timeline? If all works out, I'll graduate in May of 2029.

Thanks for any insight!

This may be a bit of a stretch but does anyone here know when the CIA Stokes Scholarship application will open? It is typically open from March to June but the website lists the application as closer. Thanks in advance!
