Updated Kentucky flag redesign.

Hello, here is my third attempt at redesigning the Kentucky flag. After posting my second attempt I got some tips on how to make it more visually appealing. this design is a little rough looking because of the application I used, but overall I’m pretty happy with it. I kept the same symbolism from the second attempt so I just copy and pasted the explanation below:

So I have created this second design. This one is inspired by the states song ”My Old Kentucky Home,” and the opening lyrics “The sun shines bright, on my old Kentucky home.” Here I’ve decided to represent the sun, but instead of using a sun I’ve used an Appalachian quilt design often known as the Kentucky star. The star represents Appalachian influences along with unity from different locations (north, south, east and west).

For the two main bands I‘ve represented the Kentucky bluegrass and rivers with the blue band which is the same shade as the current flag. The white band represents peace and clouds, along with the rags that coal miners used to wipe away dust after a long days work. (Represent long Kentucky wiping of her brow and preparing for something greater).

The stars represent the six regions of the state: Eastern mountains and coal fields, Bluegrass, Knobs, Pennyroyal, Western coal fields, and Jackson purchase. I have them in a Betsy Ross style to represent the states early colonial ties and to outline a sun shape. I have them in black to represent coal and to make them stand out better.

Please give me your homiest feedback on this flag. Thanks.

Second attempt at a Kentucky flag redesign.

Hello, here is my second attempt at redesigning the Kentucky flag. Earlier I presented a Tricolor here (second slide) and it was well receive. However when I presented it to a Kentucky focused subreddit it was not met with much enthusiasm. And it made me realize, that while the Tricolor is nice, it doesn’t scream Kentucky.

Kentucky flag tricolor.

Hello. Here is a redesign I did of the flag of Kentucky. For this I didn’t want to include any horses as usually included. I wanted to take the states three main Colors on the current flag, which are considered the states official colors. The gold represents prosperity and the agricultural industry in Kentucky, which includes our horse and bourbon industry. The blue represents the blue grass but also the the many rivers and creeks that have shaped Kentucky’s history and geograph. The white represents peace and unity seeing that the culture here is a mixture of many different cultures from around us, and we have to come together to form the state. I also wanted it to have three stripes to represent both the three rivers that border Kentucky. But also the idea of Kentucky being both a state with Southern, Northern and Western influences. The tricolor is intentionally simple to reflect the rules of Vexillology, but also from the French Revolution‘s style since Kentucky has some French ties, but I made the stripes horizontal in honor of America’s flag. Please give me any advice to develop the flag further if needed, I’d love to find a way to replace the cuTrent flag to make a much more beautiful flag.

Personal Coat of Arms I made.

Here is my personal coat of arms I made for myself. I’ve been wanting to make one for a while now and have had many drafts, but I’ve finally figured out a design I’m 💯 percent behind.

The colors, blue white and gold are based upon Marian colors. Since I feel a love for Marian devotion and want to dedicate my life to a good prayer life, I wanted to incorporate these color.

The cross fleury was picked for multiple reason. one because I like the simple design of a cross, but also the fleur de lis design hints at my French ancestry and my mothers favorite flower being the lily. Along with the further Marian devotion symbolism.

The owl was picked because it symbolizes wisdom and I myself want to be a future educator and thought that would be the best animal to symbolize that aspect of me. Also I like birds.

The motto I picked means, “Let us be grateful to God”. I picked this not only for the meaning but also because it is my state of Kentucky’s Latin state motto. As a little nod to my roots.

if there is anyway I can register this as an American I would be very grateful. Thanks.
