Would you actually use a Lost & Found web app specifically for McMaster?

I’ve been thinking about making a web app for McMaster students that would basically be a centralized Lost & Found.

The idea would be:

  • You log in with a McMaster account
  • There are two sections: Lost and Found
  • If you lose something (water bottle, AirPods, backpack, calculator, etc.), you can make a post with a description, location, photos, time, etc.
  • If someone finds something, they can make a post in the Found section describing what they found
  • People could comment on posts or privately message the person who made the post
  • There could also be contact information attached to posts if the person wants to provide it
  • Ideally, it would be searchable/filterable so you could easily find posts for specific items or locations

I’m mainly wondering: would McMaster students actually use something like this?

Right now, lost & found stuff can be pretty scattered between group chats, Reddit, Discord, campus offices, etc., so I was wondering if having one dedicated platform would actually be useful.

If you think it would be useful, what features would you want it to have? And if you wouldn't use it, what would stop you from using it?

Unpopular opinion: Trailer 3 is NOT dropping today or tomorrow, and I'll die on this hill

Everyone's losing it over the "Tom Henderson said Aug 6" thing but let's zoom out for a sec:

  • Rockstar has literally never dropped a trailer on the actual Take-Two earnings call day. Trailer 1 came a full month after the Nov 2023 call. Trailer 2 came like two weeks before that quarter's call. They don't do it on the day, historically.
  • As of like a week ago there was still ZERO official word: no teaser, no date, nothing. Rockstar hasn't confirmed a single detail about Trailer 3 existing.
  • The "hidden timestamp" theory, the website font changes, the Instagram follows, none of that is Rockstar actually saying anything. It's fans reading tea leaves because we're all starving for content.
  • There's even a competing insider theory floating around that it's a September thing, not August.

Basically: people are stacking rumor on top of rumor on top of vibes. I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm saying "it lines up with the earnings call" is exactly the kind of clean narrative Rockstar has a track record of not following. They tend to just drop stuff with zero warning when they feel like it, not on the date that would be most convenient for a Reddit countdown post.

Anyway see you all here again in 3 days when it still hasn't dropped 🙃
