Saw this cedar waxwing and was lucky enough to watch it eat a chokecherry

Denver Audubon kingery nature center I saw this cedar waxwing eating a chokecherry and I was able to get a sharp look at its head and was lucky enough to see it eat one of the fruits with its beak open

Why am I only seeing female hummers?

These were photos taken in Colorado and Northern New Mexico mountains. i know they are broad-tailed but where are the males? I hear the males flying around and sometimes see them in tree but only see the females at the feeders so where are the males?

Chatfield park (3 new lifers)

Found several species at Chatfield earlier this morning, a catbird (who lowkey sounds a lot like a cat), bald eagle, western meadowlark, red-tailed hawk (a rare extreme close up), two shots of a lesser goldfinch and a Woodhouse’s scrub jay which is crazy that we have them in the southwest. So the scrub jay, lesser goldfinch, and the bald eagle are my 3 new lifers from Chatfield.

New wetland species at Belmar lake

Got 4 new species but the catbird was at a different park. I also got to see another goose today which Merlin told me was a greater white fronted goose a snowy egret, an avocet, and a couple killdeer on the mudflats including some mallards and Canada geese. There were also at least a couple dozen cormorants on the central island.

Found these guys on Lookout Mountain

The photos of the western bluebird are the same one. The western tanager, pygmy nuthatch, western bluebird, pine Siskin, and broad-tailed hummingbird were all spotted in Ponderosa pines near the Buffalo bill trail. The crow is an extra and I included the view of Denver and the continental divide.

Says Phoebe or Western wood Pewee, Colorado?

The first 3 images were taken on Tuesday and the last 3 photos were taken yesterday. Merlin told me the first 3 were a Say’s phoebe but I can’t tell if the second 3 are a Western wood pewee or a Say’s phoebe but I can’t see the breast, does anybody know which one? I already added Say’s Phoebe to my life list for the first three photos but did I accidentally add the wrong one to my life list?

Goldfinch are becoming surprisingly more common to see here on campus in Ohio but not quite as common as House Finch but here’s a collection of my clearest sightings of them.
