Does anyone else have a weird pay day ritual that stops them from going broke?

Every month the second my salary hits, I do the exact same thing before touch a single rupee.

I make a coffee, log into my app, and spend 15 minutes scrolling through last month’s statements. Not because I’m some super disciplined budget wizard, but because my brain lies to me about where my money goes.

I’ll genuinely believe I barely ordered Swiggy or Zomato, only to see like 7 random late-night orders. Or I’ll think I didn't shop much, but then spot 10 small UPI payments that seemed harmless individually but added up to a chunk of cash.

I used to make this WAY too complicated. I had one account for salary, one for expenses, and savings parked elsewhere. I thought I was being organised, but logging into three different banking apps just to figure out what I spent was exhausting.

A while back I just simplified the whole thing. My salary gets credited to my Axis Bank account now and I keep most of my daily spending routed through it too. Having everything in one place made these quick monthly reviews so much less of a headache instead of tracking down statements across different apps.

Honestly, doing this hasn't magically saved me millions, but it definitely makes me spend more intentionally. I don't feel as guilty buying stuff I actually want because I know my essential bills are already taken care of.

Does anyone else do something like this on pay day? Do you guys track stuff on spreadsheets, use budget apps, or just vibe and hope for the best? Curious how everyone else handles it without making it a full-time job.

Haven't taken the family to the beach in months. Any recommendations??

Dug up this photo and realised we haven't done a proper beach day since last year. With rains come soon hopefully i was aiming for this weekend.

Duke (our dog) is going to lose his mind.

Any recommendations for a relatively clean and not too crowded spot this weekend? Alibaug? Gorai? Open to suggestions from fellow Mumbaikars.
