>!In the newest theme theater, Skea (who was the previous head priestess of the order) has revealed that the first Master of the Order was actually a sprite--elected similar way to Pope in Catholic Church. However, this act greatly angered Eld'r (Yggdrasil) and as a punishment, she sent the first master (mistress??) to the Weekend farm, just after giving her and other sprites a warning that only human can become the Master of the Order. There have been some speculation on the identity of the first master, with some people suggesting that he/she might have been the first human summoned by the world tree--and now we can put that to the rest. !<
Upon visiting a local wholesale store I've stumbled upon couple of discount neofinetias on sale. First is a selfing of Oonamiseikai...which retains fantastic twisted curved leaves . The second one is a clone of Amanogawa--with its tiger stripes variegation remaining strong.
This is my Catasetum fimbriatum which suffered heavy scale infestation and black rot infection two years ago, and since been in rehab last year. It began to grow late last summer, and managed to produce a new plump pseudobulb earlier this year...I was expecting it to go dormant but instead it threw whopping three new growths and kept growing non-stop! It seems they will adapt and reschedule their growth cycle to fit into the environment they're thrown into.
A little, relatively easy growing east asian tuberous terrestrial orchid. Flowers have tons of variations and japanese people have developed bunch of cultivats with all kinds of shades except true blue and orange.
One of my regulars -- blooming faithfully every year despite the circumstances. Honestly, I think it is a hybrid since the shape of the lip is somewhat a bit off...I suspect a hybrid with cattleya walkeriana. But since mexican laelia is extremely rare in east asia I won't complain. ;-)
