My MIL is such a deadbeat and I have to get it off my chest. She begged and begged for grandkids and now she has one its been all empty unmet promises of helping us out. She did show up the week of delivery but it was mainly for photos and holding the baby for a week. I need some rational for this epidemic of absent grandparents so my mind can be at peace.
My baby is 6 months old and has been exclusively breastfed up until now. I’m considering adding 1–2 formula bottles per day, mainly for dad to help cover some sleep, but I’m having a hard time weighing that against the potential benefits of staying EBF.
I’ve been reading about the gut microbiome and how breastmilk/HMOs influence Bifidobacteria, and I understand that formula can cause some changes in the microbiome. But I’ve also read that once babies start solids around 6 months, their diet increasingly becomes a major influence on their microbiome anyway.
For those who are knowledgeable about breastfeeding/microbiome research: what are your thoughts?
