Kamikochi day trip end of August - mistake?
Hey all! I will be visiting Japan as a solo traveller at the end of August/beginning of September. I know that the heat will be awful, but it’s the only time that I can get off this year. This will be my second visit, and I will be staying in Matsumoto. I had planned on doing a day trip out to Kamikochi for some hiking, however I am now unsure whether this is a bad idea due to the heat and the lack of shaded/indoor places to hide. Has anyone done anything similar in the summer, and do you have any tips to survive being out in the countryside in the heat?

2015 Fiat 500 grinding sound when braking
My 2015 Japanese import Fiat 500 has started to make a low, gravely grinding sound when braking after driving for 15 minutes or so. From my research it seems like it’s usually worn down brake pads causing this, but I think I can still see them in these photos? ( I could be looking at the completely wrong thing, I am not knowledgeable about cars). I am planning on taking my car to a mechanic tomorrow, but they are around an hours drive away and I want to be sure that I’m safe to drive that distance. Any suggestions?
