Colorado vehicle suggestions

Hey guys. I was just looking for some help picking out the right next vehicle. I've been in CO for a year and love living in Golden so plan on staying a while and currently have a Honda Civic. I love it but will need to replace it in the near future. I was looking at Tacomas since they are so highly recommended but am open to some other options.

How recommended is a truck vs something else and how much "All Weather" capability do I really need? I know last winter was weak so I don't have a good gauge.

I enjoy going into the mountains and would like to open up more than my Civic can do but I don't need hardcore overlander capabilities or anything. Just something suitable for some of the rougher passes and roads. I'm also a private chef so I need to be able to reliably reach wealthy estates in the mountains during ski season.

Also what vehicle clearance height would open up the majority of passes/roads?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I do want offroading capabilities and reliability is important to me. I keep my cars forever.
