Episode 7 artwork by Hajime Sorayama

Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama has largely stayed out of the anime industry at large, but he is the contributor to The Ghost In The Shell's title logo. His career as an artist consists almost entirely of drawing erotic pinup artwork of gynoids stylized from how early robots were depicted in the 1930s, such as in the movie "Metropolis," including this depiction of Motoko in this picture.

I think the game is trying to tell me something

This is the 3rd Mass Produced Type Nu Gundam [FF] LV2 that I have obtained from post-battle reward crates today. First, third, and fourth crates. I know it's a good unit, but I never got much of a chance to use it.

Why has the Gatsha so popular again?

I've noticed quite a huge resurgence of the Gatsha mobile suit in the 350-500 range lately, It's strange, because for the first 3 years of the PC port, I would only rarely see it-- someone using it as an oddity or testing the suit out (nobody plays Quick unless it's a sitbat.) However, I've been seeing it in like 20-30% of the matches from numerous players over the last 2 months or so.

Is there something about a massive chain hammer that can hit from HALFWAY ACROSS THE MAP and chain-explosion tube missiles that suddenly became meta again?

His name is "Sugi".

Motoko's boyfriend.

He works in Section 1 and plays a large part of next week's episode.

His name is only mentioned *ONCE* in the entire manga, and Shirow even left a note saying he's her boyfriend from Chapter 8. Whether that's his actual name, or just a nickname that Ishikawa is shown giving him in a later chapter, it's literally the only mention of any name to attach to the character.

A lot of you are going to be asking "Who is this guy?" and "Wait, Motoko is Bisexual?" I figured I'd clear that up.

What is something you always end up yelling during a match?

"Capture beacons, you idiots!" -- That guntank or sniper who spawned in the back of the pack.

"YOU HAVE GUNS. USE THEM!" -- Mostly aimed at those general units who *HAVE* the possibility to finish off an enemy or stun them, but choose to charge halfway across the battlefield to finish them of with melee.

The Puma Sisters from Dominion Tank Police!

"Forget it, Anna. That thing was probably junk anyway. Let's go back to the red light district."

I'm so glad this scene was kept in. DPT and Appleseed deserve their own "TGITS" treatment in the future.

Closest victory I've ever had.

That Zaku Sniper admittedly gave us a lot of trouble. The enemy was putting pressure on our Raid, so I needed to take matters into my own hands and sneak up behind him myself. The match came down to a literal last-second kill.

G-Line Standard Armor. Why is this thing allowed to be so powerful?

I'm just griping, here.

To quote a Team Fortress 2 meme: I fear no suit, but that thing, it scares me.

I'm used to raid units one-shotting supports, but in the 400 range this thing has gatling guns that are objectively faster AND stronger than other units across the game who have specialized gatling cannons. The G-Cannon in 600 doesn't even compare.

20% damage reduction against Support types? What's that? It just MELTS my HP regardless of ballistic restistances

Do you think these two will make a cameo?

Anna-Puma and Uni-Puma from Dominion Tank Police show up in chapter 5: "Phantom Fund" as merchants just trying to make some money. I remember getting a good laugh from this scene.

(Also, on a side note, did Reddit change up their posting system? I remember just two days ago that I had to choose between making a post or making a post with an attached image, where I was able to spoiler-tag this picture, now it seems to be gone from every community I'm in, and I find myself unable to spoiler-tag this picture.)

The SARU Sprint

Found this on Twitter. Science SARU definitely has a type when it comes to animating characters sprinting. Admittedly not something *too* GITS related, but I just wanted to share it.

Episode 4 reaction pics (technically no spoilers)

These aren't even spoilers, just reaction pics. Episode 4 was heavier on a serious plot, so not as many gags were even present in this chapter of the manga.

Is Pandora of the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn required viewing now?

(Please forgive my ramblings. Skip to the bottom for the TLDR.)

I've feverishly studied "Ghost in the Shell" ever since they announced Stand Alone Complex would be airing on Adult Swim. Rented the 95 movie beforehand just to get an idea of what is going on, and was thoroughly confused because of how dense the plotline was. Found the 2004 2nd Edition print of the Darkhorse Comics that still has the boat scene included, and read through it multiple times.

I've studied the ins and outs of the worldbuilding of SAC down to the last minutia, and even hosted panels discussing it at anime conventions. I even had a Motoko Kusanagi itasha wrap on my car for a long time during the Aughts at anime conventions, and have become personal friends with the English language localizer of the Oshii movies and Stand Alone Complex. To call myself an actual expert on the subject would not be wrong.

Now I'm learning that a series called "Pandora of the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn" is actually canon to Ghost in the Shell's worldbuilding, with details about how the Puppetmaster came to be and even Motoko's own canonical origins (Arise ended up recreating this the closest.)

I always knew it was a Shirow Masamune project, but NOBODY has ever brought it up in discussions. Frankly, I feel a bit dismayed that this whole thing has never been brought to my attention, so now I need to start looking for the manga, or at least the anime series that came out in 2017. Honestly, it's like Motoko learning that the net is vast and infinite, and I'm finding more information to dive into.

TLDR: Is Pandora of the Crimson Shell really that crucial to the canon of GITS? I guess I should make the effort to check it out, even though I didn't know it was even connected at all. I remember when the anime came out, but it also just came and went without any fanfare.

Looking for marking suggestions

There's a lot of squadrons among the markings in the game that I'm frankly not familiar with in the lore, but I want to try customizing appearances for some of my units. I'm mainly a Support main.

I love playing as the Eye-Zack, so I figured the Federation Survey Service was appropriate to put on my shield. I also copied the color scheme of the Cyclops Squadon's Kampfer for my Prototype Kampfer, and I am a complete NIGHTMARE to fight against in the 450 range.

Anyone have suggestions for the following suits?

- Guncannon Aqua

- Acguy Recon

- Prototype Stark Jegan

- Heavy GM Kai

- G-Cannon

Apparently it's pronounced "Alex-Zero"

機動戦士ガンダムRG XARX-ZERO, "Kidō Senshi Gandamu Āru Jī Arekkusu Zero"

Apparently, "Mobile Suit Gundam RG Xarx Zero" is officially pronounced "Mobile Suit Gundam RG Alex-Zero", according to this video by GUNDAM CHANNEL INTL

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTbaU6amI68

They say "Arekkusu" at one point in the trailer.

It's the whole GQuuuuuux naming scheme all over again.

The blank X in the "XARX" font clued me in that it wasn't supposed to be pronounced. It's Japan's common use of stylized symbols to act as spaces in fonts.

Hunter Hunter" instead of "Hunter Ecks Hunter"
"Highschool Dee-Dee" instead of "Highschool D Ecks D"
"One Piece" instead of "Nep Ece"
"Lucky Star" instead of "Lucky Star Star"

etc. etc. It's a whole thing.

Episode 3 reaction pics.

Just a few snapshots I took with the print key. I placed "Angry Motoko" at the top just because it's the best!

On a more curious note: Anyone know of any software that just instantly snaps pics and saves them? That would make this much easier.

That Moai statue...

Background artist: "Hey boss, we need to flesh out Togusa's house for a scene that literally only takes up the bottom half of a page of the manga. Any details you want to add to make it stand out?"

Mokochan: "Yeah, add a lava lamp and a freakin' MOAI statue , because why the heck not?"

"That's weird... This Hypo's got 'For Use by Pathology Department Only' written on it"

One of the funniest moments from this chapter is the fact that he so casually shrugs off getting stuck with used dirty needles with pathological agents in them.

Also: "Jungle crows." CAW!

"Gremlin Motoko"

Here's something that I've found rather interesting: The collective internet has pretty much decided and settled upon "Gremlin" being the best word to describe Motoko, now that she's full of expressions and energy.

I know the word itself has slowly become synonymous with "Mischievous" or "Chaotic" -- I've seen it apply to other (mostly girlfriend-type) characters who act against societal norms (and may or may not be "smol" in stature).

When The Ghost in the Shell was first announced, I started describing on Facebook and Twitter that "Gremlin Motoko" was finally going to have her chance to shine. Slowly, but surely, I started seeing complete strangers also happy to see "Gremlin Motoko" finally debut.

I'm watching Youtubers and other content creators describe her as "Gremlin Motoko." I'm seeing other fans on Twitter describe her as "Gremlin Motoko". I'm seeing fans on Facebook agree with the nickname.

We've all collectively come to the conclusion that "Gremlin Motoko" is the best fan nickname for her, with barely anyone thinking any other word should be used as a primary descriptor instead.
