I met this guy last year in December, we both were pursuing same course for a competitive exam. Initially I didn’t notice him but eventually we started talking bcz of studies and in end of March, he revealed that he is in love with me. Didn’t even say he likes me or anything but said “love”. I replied i need time to know you as a partner before saying that im in love with you.
After literally 15 days, we started dating. We both had been in one failed relationship before and i have never been with anyone else simply bcz i never wanted anything casual. He said that he has been with 2-3 girls before in a casual setup but now he wants to proper date and marry. He’s 2 years younger than me. Initially it was a big thing for me but he said he doesn’t care about all these things.
Now after dating for 2 months, he suddenly started behaving so erratic. Like just one fine day, he has took a proper 360 degree turn and it’s making me so confused. We both have interview in next 2 months, our lives depend on the result. I was the one who said that we shouldn’t be together until the result back in March but now after 2 months of being together and constantly being in touch, he’s saying that he needs to focus on his studies and doesn’t want to talk to me anymore. I tried to make sense of this and gave him space for 2-3 weeks, but now we have just stopped talking. It’s been one week of no contact at all. A part of me still feels that maybe this is the way some men are, bcz he mentioned that he doesn’t want to think about love, emotions and girls for some time. But at the same time, a part of me feels this betrayal like I cleared that I want to be in serious relationship and maybe he “acted” his part that he’s in love with me to make me say yes to be in relationship. All of this is so confusing. Do guys actually do this? Is this normal?? Should I wait for him to respond and come back? Or should I just move on without confronting him? (I’m preparing for the same interview process and facing the same emotions. But I dont distant close ones like this)

(Can’t ask any friend now, who are mutual to us. Bcz in everyone’s eyes he was head over heels in love with me since the day one and now I feel that I have done something terrible to him to make him go away.)
TLDR- guy distancing himself bcz we both have an interview in next 2 months and wants to not think of love, emotions or “girls”. Stopped texting, calling and talking to me when he was the one who proposed me first, 2 months ago.
