Menswear shopping - Buda or Japan (where?)

Hi!

I really couldn’t quite think of what sub to look up for this question, so I’m trying here.

F, 30.

My fiancé (M, 30) doesn’t like to spend time on finding nice affordable clothes but I think I could persuade him if we are travelling, he’d like some more quality and classy items than what he already has (he has fast fashion only). He wears khaki trousers (in various colours), collared cotton shirts (long sleeve), and long sleeve knits.

We are going to Budapest this fall and probably Japan next year. Where we live there are no quality menswear options.

Where would be the better place to set some time aside to go shopping of the two destinations? Should he save his money for Japan or buy a thing or two in Buda as well? And if Japan - where? Looking for Japandi style items and maybe classical european.

Thank you!

APC Surplus experiences, TOAST, & other brand recs?

F staying 1 night in London and looking for a place to shop a few clothes. Staying in Marylebone. Keen on timeless pieces made from natural fibres. Budget ca 150£ for jeans. 250£ for a knit jumper. Want to avoid Zara, Mango, Uniqlo and all H&M affiliates. Keen on independent brands but don’t know which.

I looked at TOAST which is nearby and looks like they have great items, so maybe a knit jumper from there but then would not buy anything else. Also wondering if the ~45 minute trip to visit APC Surplus is worth it?

Not really in London for touristing, just a layover. But I live somewhere that doesn’t really have nice shops so keen to use the opportunity. Like to shop quality on sale or second hand but with only an afternoon might not be so easy.

New to wave products - advice for new shampoo

Hi, I am looking to switch shampoo and conditioner. I believe I have 2a waves in fine hair. I get some ringlets around my hairline in the finest hair and large waves at the nape of my neck, but struggle to get the top to «match».

I used Kevin Murphy killer curls line before, and got nice soft waves. However it is quite expensive and when I went to repurchase I decided to go with Angel Wash instead, which was half the price. The Angel Wash makes my hair pretty straight… Now I’m looking to switch!

I wash my hair every 3 days as of now. I also use Kerastase Absolu Cicanuit night serum occasionally and Olaplex bonding oil after showering. I want to continue to use these until they are finished.

9/10 days I air dry my hair, occasionally blow dry and even less often diffuse. My hair is currently in a bob hairstyle. I have bleached highlights. I will attach photos of what it looks like with killer curls vs angel wash shampoo & conditioner (air dried), and the last photo is from when I was a teenager and had long hair.

I recently ordered the Umberto Giannini Natural Waves cream and foam, excited to try those.

My hair is fine and I’m pretty sure I need liftening effect to generate waves - so I want to avoid products which weigh the hair down or are too glossing.

I am located in Norway so not all products are accessible here but there are still a lot of options!

Diluting an overpowering perfume

Hello, I bought a large Fragonard Juste un Baiser at a high perfume concentration, thinking it smelled heavenly after wearing it for an hour out of the shop. However after wearing it a few times at home I feel like the one I actually got is way more intense, and too overpowering. Even when I try to just spray my wrists, tap my neck, and then wash my wrists I find the scent too strong. I am wondering if I could maybe dilute it and put into several bottles.

This is the second Fragonard perfume that I feel like smells/feels different between the bought bottle and the sample/tester. From the sample/tester it smells good, but a spray from the bottle smells less good and makes my nose prickle (allergy?), also sometimes serial sneezing. I don’t want to spray my clothes and I think I would still get too much in my nose from misting.

Is it density differences in the oils causing the larger bottles to give me a different composition (assuming the small sample or in-shop tester is shaken just by using it)?

To summarize I have three questions regarding this:

  1. Can I dilute the perfume? What do I need to look up? Can I buy things that match the non-scent-oil part of the perfume? Not a chemist :)
  2. Other tips for wearing the perfume more lightly and not reacting?
  3. What could be causes for the experienced difference in smell and sensation?

Hello!

I currently use La Sportiva Trango Tech Leather GTX for hiking and Salomon Womens Ultra Glide for running. I don’t do long-distance running, I just wanted something for terrain running that doesn’t constrain the feet and is easy on my knees. And success! The Salomon Ultra Glide are super comfy, they are narrow enough around the heel/ankle/bridge area to keep in place but wide enough in the toebox to have wiggle space. I have zero foot pain when I use them. Soon I’ll be going on a multi-day hike and want to bring two pairs of shoes; one pair of high-ankle boots and another pair for the days where my feet may need a break from those shoes, and the terrain is not technical. I will not be carrying heavy load.

Do you have an experience with comfortable approach shoes on a hike you’d like to share? Should I just bring the Ultra Glides? They may not have enough support for hiking I suppose. I have narrow feet so the heel section needs to be narrow, but I’d like wiggle space for my toes. I have a high arch.

Answers appreciated.
