How often to check Vit D levels when starting out on supplements?

As title says. I’ve been supplementing for 3 weeks. Started at 27 ng/mL. I pay privately so wondering when I should next test. I’m not noticing any major improvements in symptoms but I may also be b12 deficient. My iron levels are fine. I’m on 10,000 iu a day plus the cofactors.

Confused about K2 dosage with Thorne drops

I am taking 10,000 IU D3 and I have read you need to supplement with 200mcg of K2 - MK7 form. Before I found the protocol I ordered the Thorne drops D3/K2 but realised the K2 is MK4. To achieve 10,000 IU D3 I would need 10 drops which means I get 2mg of K2 MK4 in total. I am not sure if this equates to MK7 if at all. It was quite expensive so I want to use it and I am wondering if I should add a separate K2 supplement that is MK 7 and if so how much?

Ok to take injections without an official diagnosis?

Sorry another post from me. I’m going to start b12 injections. I can only get cyanocabalamin ampoules and will inject eod. My bloods came back in 400s ng for b12 so although I’m “in range”, functionally I’m deficient. Since I have the neuro symptoms it can’t harm me to start SI can it? How long would I wait to see if it’s working or not, given I may also experience wake up symptoms and mistake them for it not working? Since I’m currently out of the country I don’t have access to a PCP. My folate is 10 and iron panel all came back fine (ferritin 78). I’ve also started a protocol for vitamin D deficiency. Will I need to add a folate supplement since my test is in range? I’m always of the view less is more in terms of supplementing. Never been on any medications long term so no interactions there.

Self injections - IM or sub c?

I’ve purchased a box of cyanocobalamin B12. It’s the only form I can get where I am. On the box it says IM or sub cutaneous. Is one better than the other? I don’t mind injecting as I used to do the same for fertility medications. I just need to make sure I purchase the right needles. Plan to inject EOD as a loading dose for 2 weeks and see how I feel.

Newbie and some questions on B12 treatment

Newbie here and I'm currently managing my symptoms and treatment privately as I am overseas and happy to fund myself but just need some guidance.

I've been experiencing long-term fatigue, achy joints, headaches, neck cricking and general all over body/nerve pain. Recently I've been waking up with hand/arm tingling/pins and needles. Genetics testing shows my body is less efficient at maintaining B12 levels so need supplementing (FUT2 gene variation).

My Labs from last week:

B12: 440 pg/mL

Vit D: 27 ng/mL

Folate: 10 ng

And in March 2026:

Ferritin: 92 ng/mL

FBC: Mostly normal mid-range

TSH/FT4: normal

AFTER I got my results I started 500mcg B12 lozenges, then moved to 100mcg lozenges 3 days ago and 5-10,000 iu Vit D. I'm sort of on the co-factors. I'm still waiting on some supplements to arrive that I ordered from iHerb. I found taking too much magnesium was upsetting my stomach so I am slowly building up the amounts. Currently 240mg elemental (Thorne brand). I've also bought a B50 complex.

Questions:

- With neuro symptoms and genetics showing lower B12 maintenance, should I switch from lozenges to injections? I believe I can easily buy ampoules here and I don't mind self injecting but my concern is if I end up doing too much if I am not that deficient. I thought serum 440 pg was an OK range but then learned that it is unclear how much of the B12 I have on the cellular level.

- Is it necessary to retest ferritin since my result is 5 months old?

- Other tests worthwhile (e.g., MMA, Homocysteine) that are needed now?

- How do I handle future testing/tracking since I already started B12 and the requirement is to stop supplementing for 4 months for correct reading?

Thanks for any input.

New rental - payment of rent and deposit before signing

As per title. Is it normal in Thailand to handover 1st month rent and deposit without a signed contract. Can anyone confirm normal process when moving into a new apartment? Should I request some other form of document if they say we sign on move in date which is 1 month away? Landlord is corporate landlord.

Lak Song MRT parking overnight

Hi, I am driving from Cha Am to Bangkok for 1 night and to avoid inner city driving I was hoping to park overnight at the Lak Song MRT station and hop on the MRT into the city. Has anyone done this and can advise how it works regarding payment and ease of finding the parking for overnight stays? I read if you use the MRT you get a discounted parking rate but is this easy to navigate. It's my first time driving to Bangkok so feeling a bit nervous about the logistics as I will be alone. Thanks!
