Headaches of public charging EVs when others don’t respect booking time slots

Lucky there was empty space next to the charging bay and the cable was long enough. Owner came almost 10 min late.

Can I acquire Thai citizenship through my mother?

Without renouncing my current citizenships? Would there be any downsides?

My mom’s been saying they don’t allow this or if they do that they’d require military service but I doubt this is true especially if I don’t live there and apparently there are plenty of dual Thai citizens?

I‘ve got no intentions of living in Thailand but I’m thinking this might make it easier to travel not just to Thailand but other Asian countries as well?

I don’t really speak Thai apart from a few basic sentences.

Thai Army Rejects Cambodia’s Claim - Denies Grenade Attack, Says Cambodian Troops Likely Stepped on Own Landmine

Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Winthai Suwaree rejected Cambodia’s claim that seven Thai soldiers crossed into Phanom Dong Rak, Surin, at 12:35 p.m. and threw a grenade at Cambodian troops, injuring three. He said the allegation is false and a complete distortion. A rapid check with Thai units confirmed the blast occurred on the Cambodian side, not from Thai action.

At the time, Thai forces were patrolling to secure road construction on Thai territory. Around noon, they heard an explosion from the Cambodian side, followed by confusion as Cambodian troops tried to help their wounded. The Thai Army stressed it did not use weapons or grenades. The incident is believed to have been caused by new Cambodian troops, inexperienced with the hazardous terrain, accidentally stepping on one of their own leftover landmines.

Winthai emphasized that the Thai Army strictly abides by agreements and international law, urging the public and international community not to believe baseless claims. He called on Cambodia to stop spreading false reports that damage bilateral relations and border peace.

The 2nd Army Region released photos showing Cambodian soldiers injured by their own mine. Cambodian social media alleged Thai troops had thrown a grenade, but Thai authorities found no evidence of Thai involvement. At 12:45 p.m., Thai soldiers heard an explosion from inside Cambodian-controlled territory, beyond the Thai fence line. No Thai personnel were injured, and no Thai equipment was damaged.

Medical review of the Cambodian soldiers’ wounds showed injuries concentrated on feet and legs-consistent with stepping on a landmine. Grenade blasts, by contrast, typically scatter shrapnel across the body and cause more widespread trauma.

The 2nd Army Region reaffirmed that the explosion occurred on Cambodian soil, with no Thai operations in the area. It stressed Thailand’s commitment to patience, restraint, and respect for border agreements to preserve peace and good relations. The Army also expressed readiness to cooperate in fact-finding through existing mechanisms if further evidence emerges.

non-thai minor living alone in bkk — how to buy online-only concert tickets with cash/truemoney?

hi all!!

im looking for some logistical advice regarding ticketing in thailand. im a non-thai national, currently a minor, and living independently in bkk.

im trying to buy tickets for the upcoming zara larsson concert through ttm. i've had no issue purchasing a ticket for the laufey concert a couple months back because i was able to purchase the ticket with cash at some ttm branch's counter at a cinema. however, the organizer for the zara concert explicitly stated that this sale is online-only, like there will be no physical box office or ttm counters open to pay with cash on the day of the sale.

here's my dilemma:

  1. i have the physical cash on hand for the ticket, but i don't have a thai bank account yet.
  2. i cannot use the debit card my mom had left with me because her thai sim card isn't active right now, meaning i can't receive the required OTP code at checkout. and i dont want to bother her as she's so busy with work.
  3. i was advised to use truemoney wallet by topping it up with cash at 7-Eleven.

my questions are:

  • can a non-thai minor successfully register and fully verify a truemoney wallet using just a foreign passport?
  • does ttm accept truemoney wallet QR payments directly at checkout, or will i run into issues?
  • if truemoney doesn't work well for foreign minors, are there any other secure cash-to-digital workarounds available in bkk that don't require a local bank account or a parent's OTP?

appreciate any insight or experiences from expats or locals who have dealt with this. thanks!

How should a foreigner go about buying a condominium in Bangkok, Thailand?

So how would you personally go about it?

If you plan to live there for at least 30-40 years, then it would pay off in my opinion.

Starbucks in Thailand

I do not understand Starbucks, Coffee here is literally everywhere, there are more coffeeshops than people and the average price of a nice coffee is around 55 THB, Starbucks is very quickly 140, or almost 3 times the price.

Plus, the place looks like a secondhand furniture store, with worn out seats, not terribly clean and absurdly expensive extra's. Yet i see quite a lot of tourists and also a lot of local Thai going there, to pay more to get less.

What is the appeal can someone explain

(Locally in Hua HIn now 4 including one in the hospital of all places).

Iranians in Thailand Rally at U.S. Embassy - Call for Support of People, Not Islamic Republic

On July 4, 2026, at 1:30 PM, a group of Iranians living in Thailand gathered in front of the U.S. Embassy on Witthayu Road. They called on the United States and the international community to stand with the Iranian people - not the Islamic Republic. The demonstration featured placards and alternating speeches.

The statement read: “We continue to remember those who lost their lives during the uprising of January 8-9, and everyone who sacrificed for a free Iran. We will never forget them.”

They expressed gratitude to the United States for Operation Epic Fury and urged Washington not to make deals with or support the Islamic Republic in any form - political, financial, or legitimizing. “Iran’s future must belong to the Iranian people. We support a peaceful transition to a free, democratic, and secular Iran, and we endorse Prince Reza Pahlavi as the leader of the national transition.”

Roiet

One of the most beautiful areas of the countryside in Northeastern Thailand. The place where you can witness kind, friendly, and happy people, a slow lifestyle, water bodies, nearby white-water buffalo, beef stalls, and a 7-11 in every corner. I am happy that I spent 15 years in here!

For those living here long-term: What is the longest time you've stayed here without returning to your home country for a visit?

And, if you don't mind, I'd be interested in knowing if there's any particular reason that prevented your returning for so long?

In my case, I think it's four years now. I used to visit once or twice a year while my parents were still alive and to visit siblings. But now my parents have passed, and I meet up with my sibs in Europe, which is halfway between where we live so a 50% reduction in flight time.

Thai Amulet

Can anyone tell me what this amulet is called and what it's worth? It belonged to my late mother, who got it in Thailand back in 2016. I'm currently selling some of our things for extra funds, and I'd like to know if this is worth selling or if I should just keep it.

Hello everyone! I found some weird wood thing inside my electric kettle in my room at the hotel.

Hi everyone! Can you tell me why someone would put wood inside of an electric kettle? Is there some reason to do so?
