Hello friends! I have recently purchased a Bokeh Closed. I decided to give these a go after hearing that they were a bass filled LCD-2 Classic. I have got to say… that’s a great characterization.

Bokeh Closed VS Bokeh Open

The Bokeh Open is a bad headphone. It feels terrible on that head, doesn’t look great, and, most importantly, sounds awful. No matter how many pad swaps I tried I still found it fatiguing in all of the wrong ways. The bass was nice, but the treble was like a Hifiman. I found it to be like a 109 pro with none of the positives.

The Bokeh Closed completely destroys it.

Bass

The bass in this headphone could only be put one way. A lot. There’s a lot of bass and it slams. I’ve seen this to be the place where some people have issues. I agree sometimes. Jazz music and squeaky clean production songs come to live on these. Folk songs not so much. Becomes a bit much.

Midrange

This was an area I had to learn to love. It’s not as forward and present as my favorite midrange with the 650, but it was different in a way that I did enjoy. Vocals sounded just the perfect amount of present while allowing the rest of the mix to be enjoyed. In non-vocal music, the mid range was perfect. The way it interacted with the bass was incredible.

Treble

Where is it? The lack of treble is a bit stark. I’ve come to love it. This headphone is as warm as warm can be without becoming soup. The treble is smooth and doesn’t have any noticeable fatiguing parts or lacking parts. It works well with the rest of the FR.

Build & Comfort

It’s heavy, but it’s very comfortable and customizable. I wish the suede pads didn’t sound like shit so I could have it be the most comfortable. I used the hybrid pads with the burst mesh. It’s also beautiful and looks awesome.

Conclusions

This is a wonderful headphone. I enjoyed the LCD-2c for its simplicity and relaxed feel, but I found it boring. This solves of. Maybe less “relaxed”, but I find it engaging enough and relaxed enough to be a great work headphone. It also isolates well after you make the headband fit your head.

I would give it a 9/10 and a great ZMF to start with if you’re interested. I bet with EQ this can be a very good “only” headphone.
