It’s done.

July 23, 2026. Our home now belongs to someone else. She died a years ago at the end of June. ALS/Lou Gehrig Disease. A year and a half after diagnosis.
We continued with our plan to update and add to our summer home. Our plan was to live there. Together, then me alone. She didn’t make it to see our place completed. I forged ahead and moved, but didn’t sell the old place. It sat empty for months, until o decided that it was time.
The sale went smoothly. I expected to have a rush of relief. It hasn’t happened yet. I’m feeling another wave of finality. No relief. No joy. No confidence. Just loss at the moment.
I’m sure I’ll rally, but at the moment, I’m OK feeling crappy.

I thought I’d feel a rush of relief and closure, but it hasn’t come.

Both Rings went out after house was washed

Front and back door wired units went out at 10:30pm after my house was washed earlier in the day. No chime. Can’t find transformer.
The app says they are offline. There is no light. Nothing happens if I push the button.
HELP! 🙏🏼

Gas furnace. Arrow on the filter is pointing toward the furnace (down). Is that the direction of airflow? Apologies, my spouse passed and this is new to me.

Edit: Y’all are scaring me now. It’s a large addition. Brand new. In the attached shed. Michigan. Reputable contractor. Passed inspection.
I’ll try to add some more pix, but at the moment it is not letting me.

Edit 2: The original cottage had baseboard heat. This unit serves both the new addition and the old structure.
Yes, it is comfortable. The unit doesn’t run constantly.

I’m a widow. 6/28/25. That’s when it happened. It was inevitable. She was diagnosed with ALS/Lou Gehrig Disease/Motor Neuron Disease. Incredible suckage. She deserved so much better.

I’m at our lake house. We had a modest cottage. Michigan. We’d planned on expanding it, as we bought the lot next door and hired a contractor. After the diagnosis, we decided to move forward with the addition. She was happy that I wanted to move there full time. We had hoped that she’d be able to see it completed. Nope. They just finished in February.

Here I am. Movers came Monday. I’m surrounded by boxes and bins. Overwhelmed, but also happy. This would please her immensely.

So, I’m sitting on the deck listening to my iPod mini. Aaron Neville. Weeping. I miss her. Music heals, but it stabs. It pokes. It pulls off scabs. That’s OK. I need to feel the feels.

My small fire is struggling. Like me.
