Gum Drop Glow
I like the gum drop not what I was expecting. Yes it’s a while milk chocolate block but there is restraint from going over the top.

It is run by a mother and daughter. They have some great items on the menu. They also love putting out new stuff randomly and I love going there because I get to experience and check out new stuff before it goes on the menu. Super kind people and will keep supporting them because GOCHUJUNG SCONE IS A REVELATION plus Kimchi cheddar scone. the steam buns (which I normally avoid) have great fillings. The wraps are good. And the dry fruit chocolate, kumara caramel eclair WHAT! The pricing is sensible and it’s a 10/10 lunch spot.
I’m on a few groups for buying and selling houses, tenants flatmates etc. I have noticed that these grifters will offer their advice under any post about anything in these groups. It’s like an automatic AI generated response from them under the post. I now just scroll past the whole advice paragraphs.
You can even test it. You can say “I have no money, no job. And I want to buy a million dollar house.”
The advice- “It will be difficult but let us not lose hope. It’s my goal to get you your dream home. Get you approved. Let’s talk”
Was it only restaurants with fancy menus? Food of the people?
This last week I have come across kids who have been chanting 6 7. In the bus early in the morning kids reply to each other with 6 7 as if they have won something. A friend’s daughter went crazy yelling 6 7 to anything her mother said when we went shopping. I try and keep up with kids slang like “get a W” “Based” “Aurafarmin” “fire” “peak” “cooked” because I feel every generation has their own sayings and style but 6 7 is just bending parents minds. It’s fun for me to watch.
I have a long long driveway to my house with a total of 4 houses sharing it. It’s long a wide too for 2 cars to use it simultaneously going up and down getting to their properties. I have noticed people park their guests cars sometimes overnight but not often. I have 4 cars in my garage with roommates. If I get another car can I part overnight there. There is off street parking. But if I use it overnight only and then the car is gone during the day for work, is there an issue?
First of all the cost of doing it at the expense of govt borrowing money that makes up a significant chunk of GDP.
The move is already being seen as protectionist- like UK with brexit. I get you don’t want Australian overreach but you have to be real about wanting send a signal to investors that NZ is too protectionist.
BNZ already operates in New Zealand, employs New Zealanders, pays NZ taxes and serves NZ customers. The practical day-to-day difference for ordinary Kiwis may be minimal.
Peters often frames foreign ownership as a loss of sovereignty, but New Zealand’s prosperity has long depended on being trusted, stable and open to international capital. Turning banking into a nationalist political project could hurt that reputation more than it helps ordinary people.
20–30 billion on one bank is an enormous opportunity cost. That money could instead go toward infrastructure, healthcare, transport, housing, defence or reducing national debt.
Also to the supporters who will argue that Australian-owned banks “take profits out of New Zealand” but that ignorethe other side of the equation: Australia also brings enormous amounts of capital into New Zealand. The parent banks in any big country provide financial stability, liquidity, international credit access and investment capacity that help fund mortgages, businesses, farms and infrastructure. Those profits are partly the return on decades of capital exposure and risk taken in the for example the NZ market. If New Zealand discourages foreign firms from earning returns here, international investors may eventually decide NZ is a less attractive place to put their money.
Lastly has anyone asked BNZ do they want new ownership 🤣?
I look at the posts they put up that might as well be shouting into the void or the weird takes on community groups or the comments sections and think man these people are unwell.
