Destiny Is All!
[Alfred]: Uhtred...I wish to give over to you my son, for a second time, and for the same reason as the first. To ensure he lives. Say nothing. Say nothing. Not yet. All I ask is that you remain in Winchester until he is crowned king. Then you can do as you please. You can go north. You can reclaim your lands.
[Uhtred]: I am an outlaw, Lord.
[Alfred]: No longer. You are hereby...pardoned.
[Uhtred]: On condition I agree to remain in Winchester?
[Alfred]:You are pardoned regardless of your decision. And if beyond that door my wife has summoned guards, which is likely, I will dismiss them.
I have made my peace. I have made my request. I do not require an answer.
[Uhtred]: Thank you, Lord...for correcting your mistake.
[Alfred]: I should have closed my eyes and rattled at Heaven's gates some time ago. It was the hope of this meeting that has kept me alive.
To Uhtred, the true Lord of Bebbanburg... a man I have never understood, but without whom I would not die a king.
I'm sorry but this scene was hilarious...
I love them so much...
I've seen some stupid takes about Alicent "She doesn't like Aegon because he's a r*pist, she hates Aemond because he's a murderous asshole, she doesn't love them because X,Y and Z"
Except, she's not the victim! She has not been the victim for so long specially after the death of Viserys and Otto! I'm sorry...Those two are the ones who wronged her, not Aegon, not Aemond, not Jaehaerys and not Jaehaera, these were innocent children having the worst parents/grandparents.
Did Aegon did horrible things(in the show)? Yes, Aemond? Yes he did, Are their parents blameless? Are they the victims? NOOOOO!!! Saying that Alicent is one, is the most braindead thing someone can say. Which is what C&H try to imply by having a cheap sexual scene, Aemond kissing his mother, these people can't write REAL people.
Alicent is not a mother who tried her best to raise good children but she just couldn't get through their evil spirit, she's not a selfless mother who sold her sons in exchange for her and her daughter's safety(which she didn't got)
As difficult as it is to understand for some people, IT'S NOT ABOUT HER, not everything is about her
•She doesn't have the right to "bargain" people's lives for whatever the hell she wants to do
•She doesn't have the right to force moon tea on Helaena because she wants to run away
•She doesn't have the right to decide if a parent should leave their child because "if she cry we will be taken"
These are not her decisions, being a mother doesn't make you the owner of your children's lives. It's not about "her feelings" it's not about what happend to her in the past, it's not about how awful her male relatives are, it's not her decision to make whether they're worthy to stay alive or not
At this point she's not a real person, she most certainly isn't a real parent, she is simply, a narcissistic psychopath
Aelswith: First Aethelwold and now HIM!
Uhtred: Lady...
This scene is epic :)
He should have said it even louder...
"To have one child like that is a mistake, to have three is an insult, to the throne, to you, to House Velaryon and the match you battled so hard to make for her. Not to mention decency itself."
This is what kept her from going...THIS... giving Jace the perfect opportunity to lock her in.
If her "dress" before getting ready was more feminine then sure
And as a woman this is just an insult that C&H think someone tells a woman (a Queen) there is a war going on, and they're gonna waste time on this...
Adding the (excessive) crying just makes it worse
MORE difficult!
This is very satisfying...
This scene was really bad, she could have said that sentence in her sleep, while eating dinner, anywhere and any other time and it would have been better than THAT MOMENT...
GIRL GIRL GIRL
PLEASE PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER
That was just pathetic
And the whole "but I possess the heart and spirit of a king" doesn't even work for her?!
Like isn't the entire point of her actions is to prove she's not any less than a man for taking the throne?
And here we are bringing down women because the label "king" is apparently superior for C&H
Yes yes I know is a quote from queen Elizabeth but I'm talking about how it doesn't work for rhaenyra, IMO...
You know what my reaction was the first time I watched this? As someone who didn't know anything about this world and its characters, as someone who hasn't read the books?
"WTF"
like I can't even think of one reason that this is a good scene.
TELL me if I got it wrong:
Your husband(the king) is dead, he has named his daughter heir to the throne, but you have a (stupid) moment of "misunderstanding" and think he changed his mind.
So you send people to drag your son back from where he was hiding from you because he didn't want to take the throne, you MAKE him take the throne.
The war starts and your enemy kills your grandson, you have like this one brief moment of sadness because "look what they've done to my daughter" not "my children" or "my grandchild" just "my daughter"!
(Forget about the fact that this happened because you borrowed the guy who was supposed to protect them)
Then you have a meeting with your enemy(BFF) and she tells you that you misunderstood your husband, the same person who married and slept with you when you were 14 and didn't gave a sh!t about you or your kids so much so that he was IMO willing to torture your son who was already had his eye cut out because he DARED to speak the truth.
So after that you go to have a conversation with your son and instead of anything useful (forget loving) you drop these things:
"do you think simply wearing the crown imbues you with wisdom"
"In the hope that you might be half the king your father was"
Really??? yeah alicent you know what, book reader-not a book reader doesn't matter... F OFF
The title says it all With the exception of rhaenyra and her father/mother/children (for obvious reasons) I never feel like I'm watching a show about two "families" a lot of characters either don't give a crap about each other or don't even acknowledge each other's existence:
Viserys with Alicent children: he had like two scenes with Aegon when he was a baby, the driftmark episode, the feast, and that's it
ALICENT WITH ALICENT CHILDREN: awful relationship in season two
Corlys and Rhaenys: couple scenes with their kids, didn't give a crap when either of them died(maybe for 5 minutes) With the strong boys they're technically their grandparents? Nothing there With their granddaughters Rhaenys had two or three scenes when she was standing beside them and that was it, Corlys after Rhaenys death was upset for 5 minutes and then teamed up with daemon and rhaenyra
Aemond and aegon: in the feast when they teamed up against the strong boys was really cool, and then nothing after that...
Daemon and his kids: except the one scene with baela, not a damn thing
Aegon and helaena: their child is DEAD and we get nothing
All the green kids: don't feel like they're siblings
So yeah, please tell me if I missed something but I never felt like they were family and people who loved each other, more like people who KNOW each other...
Ok so I haven't gotten the chance to read the books yet, but from what I've seen from fan arts and concept arts and arts from the books themselves, almost all of the crowns and clothing and dragons look really unique and beautiful.
But in the show they just look bland...
Jaehaerys crown for example, like why?
