Does anyone else think Dr. K's free YouTube content is more helpful than the guide?

I've been revisiting Dr. K's YouTube videos on depression as I'm going through a depressive episode. I have Dr. K's guide to mental health as well, but I have always found rewatching his YouTube videos to be of more value than the guide.

I'm reaching out to the sub here to see if anyone else resonates with this sentiment or if not, I am curious to know how has the guide helped you? Thank you!

Need chromatic tuner recommendations on a budget

I would have gone with a tuner within INR 500 from Amazon but none of them are chromatic tuners afaik. I tune one of my guitars to Eb so it's necessary for me to have a chromatic tuner. Don't wanna rely on mobile apps. So, would really appreciate if you have any recommendations for a chromatic tuner in under INR 1k. Thank you!

Any less intimidating guitar player than SRV for a beginner to learn his style of blues playing?

Basically the question. Coming back to learning the guitar after a gap of 2+ years. I could play the solos to Nothing Else Matters, Don't Cry, and similar beginner-intermediate songs. I am drawn to blues lately, thanks to SRV and Gary Moore. The gritty, lethal style of playing without the distorted aggression of hard rock/metal.

I am on lesson 1 of Blues You Can Use and the song is composed in the style of SRV's Mary Had a Little Lamb.

While eventually I would love to play SRV someday, his playing is simply out of my grasp at the moment. Therefore, I wanted to know any beginner-friendly blues guitarist who's in your face like SRV but manageable for a relative newbie. I know what I'm asking for is a unicorn but shooting my shot. Thank you!

Has anyone got the Strydom Mini Riot 8W amp? Looking for reviews.

Hey folks, I came across this Strydom Mini Riot 8W Portable Guitar Amplifier with Bluetooth (Link here. Will remove it if not allowed). It looks like a nifty little thing, but I couldn't find any reviews anywhere. So, I'm checking in here to see if anyone's got it? If so, what's your experience been so far? Thank you!

The more I live, the more I realize less is better

I'm 35 and been using the internet for almost 17-18 years. I started learning the guitar the same year when I started using the internet seriously 2008/09. When I discovered YouTube, torrents, and the virus infested peer-to-peer software of the yesteryears, I couldn't believe the amount of information readily available on the internet, just a few clicks away.

Eventually, this turned into an obsession. Instead of practicing the guitar with what I have (Ultimate Guitar tabs and JustinGuitar), it became a relentless process of looking for new content multiple times during the day. I realized how much there's to learn and such little time.

My love for the guitar eventually was replaced with this wannabe pursuit of becoming a shredder. However, I barely practiced but kept downloading video courses diligently.

I've been through several seasons of mental health and trying to get better. I played the guitar last in May 2024 and got it serviced yesterday again. This time, I have no grand aspirations. Father time has caught up with life's responsibilities. I'll stick to the simple (not necessarily easy) stuff. JustinGuitar, Blues You Can Use and learn the songs I wanna play. (Also, AUS because you folks are very persistent about it, and the first lecture by Scotty West felt like it could reignite my love and passion for the instrument.) I'm itching to learn Runnin' With the Devil because sometimes you gotta run before you learn to walk.

I have no questions today or anything. Just wanted to share this stream of consciousness writing with the kind folks of this sub. If you're like me, this post could be your sign.

Need course suggestions for blues and hard rock genres that are as mighty as Troy Stetina's Heavy Metal books

I'm trying to learn blues and hard rock genres as a way to understand them better and eventually learn songs. I'm also following Troy Stetina's Heavy Metal Rhythm Part 1, and I must say, it's a wonderful resource. Primarily because Troy takes you gradually through exercises before introducing a practice song at the end of each chapter.

As much as I love the books I'm a bit un-enamored (if that's even a word) at the moment with heavy metal and want to take a break for some time. I want to learn some blues and hard rock (Think Gary Moore's Walking by Myself or Oh Pretty Woman for blues), but I don't know which course to follow because there are just soooo many.

I would really appreciate if the members have any recommendations as to which are some great courses that I could evaluate before picking one or two for each? Thank you so much!

Need budget electric guitar accessories recommendations

Basically, the title says it all. I'm looking for a couple of cables, a chromatic tuner, a capo, a pitch pipe (good quality), and some straps. I see a truckload of suggestions on Amazon, but I can't tell them apart. I'd appreciate any budget-friendly recommendations. I'm willing to spend a bit more on the chromatic tuner and pitch pipe. Thank you!
