No, the devs are NOT great.
This is both a rant, and a discussion. I am SO tired of people praising the developers as if they are some of the best developers we've had since the last decade. ANY hint of criticism towards Marvel Rivals causes certain people in the community to rush to the game's defense and yowl and growl like a pack of fuckin hyenas. It's starting to piss me off because people who blindly defend this game are the people that are making it worse. The community is allowing the devs (or Netease for a more broader term) to get away with too many things and it's got to stop. They lied to our faces about there being nothing wrong with the matchmaking, Their balancing has been complete ass for all 8 seasons and counting. Their servers are wonky at times, they keep releasing overturned characters that for some reason also always has a CC ability. (which also applies to my point about trash balancing) not to mention this game's non existent competitive integrity while larping as a casual game, AND last but definitely not least. They added gambling 4 TIMES in a row why? BECAUSE EVERYONE ALLOWED IT. So you know what happens now? They're gonna keep doing it until it gets out of hand. I mean for jeff sake the skin isn't even legendary and they couldn't even do the bare minimum of taking the fire off. "Well aktually OP you have a chance of getting the skin for cheaper and if not you'd just be paying the regular-" SHUT UP, I am aware how it works, and it doesn't make it better. Because not only are your chances of getting the skin cheaper hilariously low. But there's this thing called lost cost fallacy (I think thats what it's called)
Where in this context people will spend full price on something they otherwise wouldn't have because they already went through the gambling process. Those are the people this system is targeting. (and also just borderline gambling addicts) with that being said. While I was very harsh while typing this out, I really do want Marvel Rivals to succeed. But every single day they find new ways to disappoint us. And it's clear they fail to do (nearly) anything right. Whether it be the balancing, the CC changes, FOMO, etc. And I'm tired of seeing people defend it all. Cause if you really liked marvel rivals, then you'd call them out on their bullshit.
