Suche Folge mit Museum

Hallo,

Danke schonmal :)

Why do I (still) struggle so much?

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here. English is not my native language so I apologize for any misunderstandings in advance.

I am exhausted. And I've been exhausted for years (at least it feels like it, I might have been better at times). **I would like your input on why my life feels so hard and what I could do about it.**

I am diagnosed with ADHD and recurrent depression, also had a panic disorder a few years ago which was mostly gone for most of the past years. I have BPD traits but they don't qualify for a diagnosis. I see autistic traits in myself but I did not seek a diagnosis so far. I assume that I have GAD.

I turned 27 this year and I am currently working on my bachelor's thesis after ten years of being in university. Studying has been so hard for me, I've changed my major several times until I decided to stick with what I am about to FINALLY finish.

There's definitely biographic and biological factors that explain my mental health issues. Emotionally invalidating parents, feeling/being excluded in school, parents also having (untreated) mental health issues..

I've been in therapy on and off for eight years now (+ psychiatric hospital two times) and it has helped me a lot. It is probably my greatest achievement in life (so far) that I have learned how to regulate my emotions. I am not exaggerating when I say that it has completely changed me as a person. I still struggle with my emotions but it is so much different than it has been.

I've been through many different medications and i'm currently on Concerta and Zoloft.

I am also in a relationship of six years which has been difficult for a lot of the time but it we have made progress. I think I am quite emotionally dependent on my partner but I also do my best to work on that. We did couple's counseling and learned nonviolent communication which both helped. He also has mental health issues and he is not doing therapy at the moment. He was in therapy for about a year and it helped a bit but imo there are still issues that need to be adressed. He struggles with self-care and we often have arguments about the unfair mental load situation because he keeps forgetting chores or can't do them because of exhaustion. It is very hard to get therapy in my country at the moment. He is trying but the lack of success is demotivating for him. He also works full-time which I don't so I kind of have to cut him some slack?

Personally, I believe that my mental health state would decline very fast if I started working which might be the case after I finish my bachelor's degree? I did a mandatory internship for my studies last year (10 weeks, part time) and every day when I came home I was completely drained. After the internship ended I needed one month of doing basically nothing to recover from the burnout.

I don't do a lot. I am at home most of the time, I try to keep up with chores, take care of my health and make progress with my degree. I go to therapy, I take my meds. I don't understand why life still feels so hard most of the time. I try so hard to be better.
