Can’t get ‘63 to idle without auto-choke on

Runs great with auto-choke on, once that kicks off it wants to die. It can be kept alive with some gas but I can’t seem to get it to idle on its own.
Cleaned out jets and everything I could think of on the carb. Timed it out to 30 degrees and adjusted valves to .006. Just can’t seem to find a happy idle.

Wife picked up a project car today!

1963 beetle for 3,500.00. Numbers matching, fairly solid little bug. No rust, good body with some minor repairs done. Should be mostly body work, an interior kit, and paint to get it going.

Runs and drive, has a bit of an issue staying alive. Won’t idle or fire up without some gas. Couldn’t get the carb adjusted right but haven’t checked timing or anything as such yet; just got her home an hour or so ago. Any tips, tricks, or suggestions I should know about these things to help my wife with it? This is the first air cooled, small engine I’ve had, any help would rock!

I got a project truck, so my wife wanted a project car of her own.

A couple weeks ago I picked up a Ford F-350 dually with a straight six 300 and C6 auto for 1000.00. Wife got jealous so we went to pick up a 1963 VW beetle for 3,500.00

F-350 has all parts either newly installed, new parts in box, or good condition original; minus the exhaust pipes. Zero rust throughout the body and chassis, rebuilt straight six 300 and minor shift kit on C6.

Beetle has only one small area with minor surface rust around the trunk. Good driving car but needs to be tuned as it dies at idle and won’t start or stay running without some gas. Destined to be a Herby clone car!

Into them both at 5,000.00 for tow, tow dolly, registration, and a couple small things so far.

1973 Ford F350 - how’d I do?

Picked up a torn down 1973 ford f350 with a rebuilt straight 6 300 and a C6 transmission wi the a minor shift kit.

Was taken down to the frame and had everything done to it that you reasonably could, not a spot of rust anywhere. All of the parts are there, only thing that is missing is the gear selector, exhaust pipes from the muffler back, and the headliner. Some minor body work here’s and there’s along with paint to do as well.

All the parts that aren’t original to the truck are brand new. Seats were redone, tires are new, brand new OEM cluster, new lights all the way around, etc. Numbers matching with a clean title. All said and done, 1200.00 including the tow to the house.

Buying project 1973 F350 dually; anything special I should know?

Buying a 73’ F350 dually with a refreshed straight six 300 and C6 with a shift kit. It was taken apart for a frame off restoration by the previous owner before he had to sell his house in a hurry. She currently sits with the power train installed, cab on but nothing installed/hooked up, and bed installed. Frame and body have had all rust removed/repaired and primed.

Any tips, tricks, or modifications I should make/do at this stage before I start putting it together?
